CHAPTER-19 Adam and Melissa were still sitting at a table and chairs set up in a corner of the lawn. They could never have imagined that such an incident would unfold today. Everything at the party had been going smoothly, and all the guests were delighted. Had Tina not made that announcement, the party would undoubtedly have been even more wonderful. Melissa held Tina entirely responsible for breaking Ethan's heart in such a manner. Adam tried to reason with Melissa, but she simply refused to see it his way. Adam: Melissa, calm down. This is entirely a family matter of theirs, and it is not our place to interfere. Melissa: What kind of "matter" is it, really? If they had wanted to, they could have at least spared a thought for Ethan. Couldn't they? And I couldn't figure out Della, either. Why wouldn't she even speak a single word to Ethan? To me, it seems Tina is to blame for absolutely everything. Adam: Hmm, to me, Della seemed like a stranger. Della used to be such a lively girl, but the Della I saw at the party was someone I didn't recognize at all. Melissa: There is some mystery at play here—something being kept hidden from us. Adam: Hmm, don't worry. When the time is right, all secrets will be revealed. Right now, we need to focus on Ethan. Melissa's eyes welled up with tears. Melissa: I hope Ethan will be alright. We are leaving for California tomorrow. Adam: Our son is very intelligent, but he needs support to pull through a traumatic event like this. We need to be by his side right now. Whatever happened, none of it is Ethan's fault. Melissa: You're absolutely right. —No sooner had Melissa finished speaking than a loud noise rang out from Ethan's room upstairs. Both Adam and Melissa were startled. What on earth was happening up there in Ethan's room?! After hearing about Della’s engagement, Ethan retreated to his room and tried to cope with the pain of love. However, he couldn't handle himself and started throwing off everything in his room, including his mobile and valuable showpieces. His parents came to see him in his distressed state, murmuring to himself about Della and calling her a cheater, wondering why she cheated on him. Ethan was unable to process the fact that the woman he loved was getting married to someone else and had suddenly changed her behavior towards him. He was heartbroken and confused, lost and hopeless in his room with his shattered dreams. Ethan had always imagined his life revolving around Della. They had been together for as long as he could remember, and he had built his entire future around her. She was the dream he saw when he shut his eyes, the hope he clung to when things weren't picture-perfect. He loved her, adored her and thought that she was his forever. Until that day. The day Della told him that she was getting married to someone else. Of course, Ethan didn't buy it initially. He thought it was a joke, some sort of prank or experiment. Della couldn't possibly think of marrying anyone else; she was the meaning to his existence, the puzzle piece that fit his life perfectly. But then, the truth slowly started to settle in. Della wasn't kidding, wasn't rehearsing some elaborate joke. It was real - she was really getting married to someone else, sealing the deal on their once-perfect connection. Ethan was heartbroken, and that was to put it mildly. Della changed over a night unknown to Ethan. She stopped taking his calls, didn't meet for lunch, and talked to him anymore. Ethan couldn't comprehend what had transpired overnight. Just because she was marrying someone else, she couldn't just block him out completely. He tried numerous times but it all turned useless. As he lay in his room, surrounded by his prized possessions, Ethan pondered over the delusion he had called a relationship. Something was awry at Della’s end that made her cheat on him. His mind could not joke off being so dangerously serious. It dawned upon him that maybe there were internal debates in her mind she cannot fight down and mold you both into parallels. His mood turned high-octane as ideas hit him. Should he make an elaborate gesture, eluding his feelings? But then that would seem like putting force upon someone who was moving away energetically. He missed her staying over at night till morning, sharing his joy and hardships along with shedding tears by her side. Family bonding is the last thread now left — much confused by his desolate nature, his father asked to come out of the isolation dungeon and face reality, along with other odd humiliations: being fired at work, stripped of his empire-mind shells filled with nominal confusion. Submerged in tragedy, Ethan tries to comprehend life. His life's work of pie charts, generator hours, and action plans had suddenly terminated. A range was recognized within his footsteps, with the domino effect slowly surrounding his internal outfits. Stuck between Jaeger-moister and whiskey bottles, tracking the real Della, currently her world’s ah-shaking loud and clearly undefined character role was too much to take. Ethan’s love for Della spluttered out into this dimensional hallway. Confusion wins again. "And the fact that you didn't have the guts to tell me anything, Della, makes it even worse." He whispered to himself as the night spiraled faster. Ethan lay sprawled on his bed, the room in disarray. His parents had heard the commotion and rushed to his side, hoping to provide solace to their troubled son. But despite their gentle coaxing, Ethan was in no state to be reasoned with. He had been whipping around in his drunken stupor, throwing the staff of his room around haphazardly. His emotions were too raw, and even his parents knew better than to interrupt. But as the night wore on, Ethan slowly began to lose himself in sleep. His parents whispered gentle words of comfort, praying that the world around them would be kind to their son. For Ethan, the night had been a chaotic and painful reminder of the demons that plagued him. But for his parents, it was another sign of their son's strength and resilience. Despite everything that life had thrown at Ethan, he had fought with all his willpower to make it through another day. And as his parents sat at his side, watching him sleep soundly, they could only hope that he would find a way to fight on, no matter what the world might send his way
