CHAPTER-5 Billy looked in the mirror and neatly combed his messy hair. Then he picked up the car keys from the dressing table, pursed his lips, and whistled as he walked out of the house. He gazed for a moment at his beautiful blue car parked outside and blew it a flying kiss. He had received it as a gift from his uncle on his last birthday. Billy turned eighteen on this birthday. His uncle was happy. Billy lives with his only uncle. They have a small house where he and his uncle live. Billy's mother died when Billy was only five years old. It's a sad story. Billy's mother's name was Rhonda, and his uncle's name was Rupert. Rhonda lost her life prematurely in a terrible road accident. Since then, Rupert has been taking care of Billy. In fact, Rupert never married because he wanted to take care of Billy. It's not that Rupert wasn't handsome or didn't want to get married. In fact, he dated many women. But none of them were willing to marry Billy's uncle in the end. There was only one reason. They would date Rupert, thinking he was single, but when they came to his house and saw motherless Billy, they wouldn't come back. Everyone loved Billy's single uncle, but no one wanted to take on the responsibility of a motherless boy like Billy. So Billy's uncle never married. But Rupert has no regrets about that. He is happy with his nephew. He enjoys his single life very much. His current girlfriend's name is Naomi. Billy's uncle fell in love with Naomi last year while on a trip to the sea. Billy's father is still alive, but he doesn't live with Billy because he has remarried. After Billy's mother died, his father only came to see him once. Since then, Billy has never seen his father again. Some say Billy's father died from excessive drinking, while others say he is still alive. He is living happily and peacefully with his wife in another city. Neither Billy nor his uncle Rupert liked him. In fact, Billy hates his father. He is quite happy with his uncle Rupert. Rupert has now taken the place of both his mother and father. His uncle also loves him very much. Billy's uncle is a motor mechanic. He owns his own garage. Last year, a client sold this car to his uncle. Uncle Rupert repaired it a little and gave it to Billy as a gift on his eighteenth birthday. Billy had received all the love in his life from his uncle. Billy deeply wishes that one day a girl will come and say, "Billy, I love you very much." This is Billy's most cherished desire, one that no one knows about. Billy had never told anyone. But he was forced to tell Lucas, because Lola is the girl Billy likes very much. Billy wants Lola to say to him, "I love you, Billy." Lola works part-time at Lucas's father's grocery store. Lola looks like a Barbie doll. She has a slender figure. She always wears flowers in her long brown hair. Her lips are like rose petals. Whenever Billy looks at Lola, he feels like he's going to faint. Billy thinks he has fallen in love with this girl. But he doesn't know if Lola loves him, either. So, to find out, he keeps going back and forth to Lucas's father's grocery store. He loiters around Lola unnecessarily. That's how he got caught by Lucas one day. That day, he confided his secret desire to Lucas. Lucas promised Billy that he would help him in this matter. Billy got into his blue car. He carefully started the engine. Billy is going to the store now. He wants to see Lola every day. But Lola isn't always at the store. On the days she works there, Billy rushes to be there to see her. Then he goes into the store and looks around for a while. He fiddles with the items displayed on the shelves. But Billy knows that he won't buy anything; it's just an act of pretending to buy something. The real reason is that Billy does this to see Lola. Billy is in a very cheerful mood today. Because two days ago, Lucas assured him that he would help Billy win Lola over. Although Lucas agreed to help on one condition, Billy is happy. Billy is now ready to agree to any condition to get Lola. If necessary, he would even risk his life. And Lucas has taken advantage of this opportunity. That day at the shop, Billy promised Lucas that he would do whatever Lucas told him to do. Billy is a bit foolish. His intelligence is as thick as his body size. Without thinking, he unknowingly fell into the trap of the clever Lucas. Billy didn't know that to get something, one had to earn it on one's own merit. And getting something like love is entirely a game of fate. Yet Billy hadn't given up hope. Lucas has asked him to meet again today. He is going to meet him to report on the progress of the task Lucas had given him. Billy is driving his car. A beautiful romantic song is playing in his car. As Billy turned his head, he saw his beloved Lola walking along the side of the road. Seeing this, Billy quickly stopped the car and stood beside Lola. Lola gave Billy a sweet smile. Billy started the conversation first. Billy: Hey! Lola. How are you? Lola: Hey! Billy. Yes, I'm fine. How are you? Billy: Yes, I'm fine too. But I want to be even better. Lola: What? What are you saying? I didn't understand anything. Billy: What didn't you understand? Lola: That you just said—"I want to be even better"... Billy became a little flustered. Whenever Billy sees Lola, his mind gets all jumbled up. Billy became a little cautious now. Billy: Oh! Yes... I mean, I wanted to say that I'm fine. I also want to say that I will be better in the future. I mean, everyone hopes for that, right? Billy swallowed hard. Lola: I don't know, I don't understand anything you're saying. Billy: Hmm, actually, sometimes I don't even understand what I'm saying. How would you know? Let's drop this topic. Where are you going? Lola: Where else would I go? I'm going to the shop. Billy: Oh!! That's good then. I'm going that way too. Since our destinations are the same, let's go together. I have a car. What do you say? Lola: Umm... let's go. That's a good suggestion. As Lola approached the car, Billy almost ran to open the car door and helped Lola get in by holding her hand. It looked like they weren't going to a grocery store, but to a fancy restaurant. Lola was definitely enjoying Billy's politeness. Billy: You look very nice in the red dress, Lola. Lola: Oh... thank you, Billy. I don't really like the color red. I wore this skirt because I had no other option. Billy: Oh! What are you saying? Lola: Yes, all my clothes are old. So a friend of mine told me to wear this. Billy: Meaning? Is this your friend's dress? Lola nodded in reply. Lola: Yes, it's my friend's dress. Billy: Oh, I see. What color do you like? I'll give you a dress of that color as a gift. Lola: Oh no, no, why would you go to so much trouble? Billy: Why? Can't I give you a gift? Lola: I didn’t mean that. Please don’t take me the wrong way. Billy: Then tell me! If I were to give you a dress as a gift, would you accept it? Billy was pleading in such a way that Lola wanted to burst out laughing inwardly. Oh, she would be overjoyed to receive a gift. Lola didn't care at all who gave it to her. Billy: No, no, don't say that. Even if I die, I won't misunderstand you. As he said these words, Billy almost leaned his head towards Lola, as if he wanted to go inside her. Lola couldn't help but burst into laughter at Billy's behavior. Billy was getting really emotional. He might even overturn the car at any moment. Lola suppressed her laughter and gently pushed Billy's large head, which had come too close to her face, back into place with her hands. Lola: Oh!! Billy, you are truly a very good and simple person. Okay, you can bring me whatever gift you want, and I will accept it, as long as your girlfriend doesn't get angry. Billy smiled a little shyly. Billy: Lola, you'll be surprised to know that I don't have a girlfriend. Lola: Oh!! Then it's settled. You can give me a gift, but remember, I'm not your girlfriend. Billy: We'll see about that later. Lola burst into loud laughter. Billy stared at Lola with his mouth agape. The girl was truly stunning. Billy decided he would win this girl's heart no matter what, and only then would he rest. And there's always Lucas, so what's there to worry about?
