Chapter 2
Brielle’s POV
I avoided my sisters, because I couldn’t bear to relive the humiliation from last night. I did my chores and stayed in my room. That was, until I was summoned for breakfast.
They never wanted me present for breakfast.
Except if I was to clean up after them. Or if they wanted to give their review on the dish I made.
They often threw it on me, to show how much they hated it.
I braced myself as I took each step towards the dining room. It was oddly silent as I walked in, and my eyes suddenly zeroed on the figure seated beside my father.
My mouth widened as I stared at him. That asshole that ruined last night for me. What the hell was he doing here?
He met my eyes and I could see the disgust swimming in his brown orbs. We both glared at each other, neither of us wanting to back down.
“What are you doing here?” I sneered, and everyone gasped.
“How do you know him?” Anna shot at me and I rolled my eyes.
My father looked at me pointedly, anger in his eyes . “Sit. And where are your manners when addressing the Alpha king?”
My wolf instantly cowered. That explained his overpowering Alpha aura.
“Sorry father.” I muttered, bowing my head at him.
“Show your respect to your King, Gabriella.” His deep voice commanded and I shivered from the authority laced in his words.
I glared at him, not wanting him to see the effect his authority had on me. My father shot me warning looks but I ignored him, focusing on the Alpha who’s face was expressionless as he kept his eyes on me.
“There’s no respect to show.” I growled, the coldness in , my y voice shocking everyone on the table. My father got up angrilybut the King gestured for him to remain seated.
“I’ll put you in your place.” He said and I scoffed, until I started to feel my wolf panic. What’s wrong? I asked her.
Submit, Brielle. Please.
I shut her out, not ready to hear her lecture about authority. This man, king whatever ruined my night and didn’t even feel sorry about it. There would be no submission.
“What the hell?” I muttered, clutching my head as the pain intensified. It felt like someone was trying to break through my mind.
“What's wrong with her?” my sisters exclaimed, rushing away from me with panic in their eyes. The King remained seated, watching me suffer with curiosity and amusement.
My wolf's voice sounded desperate in my mind. "Please, Brielle, submit! He's an Alpha, a powerful one. You can't fight him!"
The pain was unbearable, and I felt tears streaming down my face. I couldn't take it anymore.
"I submit! I'm sorry!" I pleaded, and the pain disappeared, like it never existed. I gasped for air, feeling weak and drained.
The king stood up from his chair, tsking as he made his way to where I knelt on the floor, shivering.
I felt his piercing gaze on me and I refused to meet his stare.
"You have quite the stubborn one here," he commented, his tone almost amused.
My father looked at him, respect in his eyes. "I apologise, Your Majesty. She's just... headstrong."
The King nodded, his gaze still on me. "I can see that. I've made my choice. "
My father straightened as he waited for him to continue.
The king smirked, "I'll take her."
"King Zadyre, why on earth would you take her?" My father sounded confused and shocked.
The King's lips curved into a sly smile. "I don't have a reason. Consider this my choice."
"You want her as your Luna? Your queen? She's not fit to be one." My father argued, turning to my sisters. "You would choose her over these beautiful daughters of mine?"
Me? Luna? Queen?
My head was still spinning but the rapid sound of someone moving caught my attention.
My father, pinned against the wall with Zadyre leaning against you.
"Who are you to question my authority, Alpha Richard?" He asked, his voice cold and deadly.
"You decided to choose the ugliest one in seven sisters. There's Anna and Evelyn, but you chose Gabrielle? You saw how she acted towards you, she's crazy." My father lamented and I felt my chest constrict. Wow. Was that how much he hated me?
"But it's my choice, isn't it? Wasn't that the agreement?" Zadyre asked and my Father quieted.
"Yes it was your highness."
"Good." He said, letting go of my father. "It's my choice."
My father clenched his fists, his jaw tight with anger. "Fine. Take her."
Anna ran to Zadyre, "Pick me instead, King Zadyre. I'm better than her in everything."
Zadyre pulled her to him, his face twisted into a smile. She smiled back but then he pushed her away, and continued his stride towards me.
"Get your things. We are leaving." He commanded and I shook my head.
"No." I answered.
The room buzzed and the excruciating pain returned.
I screamed, the pain coming back ten times worse.
"I'll go with you!" I cried, and the pain relieved me.
"Good." He smiled and he walked out of the house.
My sisters all started talking at once, lamenting about the situation.
Anna stormed towards me in anger, he wolf close to the surface. “It should have been me!”
I braced myself for the strike, but my father held her back, “Im sorry darling. Forgive me.”
“Idont want this! I don’t want any of this” I cried.
I knelt before my father, “Father please. Please don’t let me go. I don’t want to marry the king. I’ll do anything” I pleaded, tears streaming down my face.
His cold eyes landed on mine and he held my chin tightly, his claws digging into my face, “It’s a pity he had to choose you, the bastard over my beautiful daughters, but I’d rather that than having to ever pretend I don’t hate you again.” He sneered in my face and pushed me away, causing me to fall.
“Get out of this house, before I throw you out.”
I ran into my room, bawling my eyes out. No one can save me from my fate at this point, so I began packing.
