Chapter 15

476 Words

Fifteen Justice shared out the food, sitting in companionable silence with Jackson as they ate. But she found it hard to keep her eyes open. She’d had no sleep the night before and wasn’t looking forward to spending another night in the maintenance room. She surveyed the mattress. It was barely big enough to accommodate Jackson’s large frame. One of them would have to sleep on the floor and, considering all the hard work he had put in to enable her to get clean, it was only fair she let Jackson have the mattress. She grabbed her backpack and pulled out the sheet set and small blanket she’d found in the linen cupboard after her shower. Not exactly all the comforts of home but they would have to do. ‘What are you doing?’ ‘Making my bed,’ she said, wishing she’d grabbed a pillow as well.
