The oracle

The kingdom

A small stream ran along the hillside, It smelled so amazing of wild flowers and freshly mowed grass. But there was also small creatures I’ve never seen before hidden behind rocks along the trail.

They had small wings and faces so similar to humans. They made small chirping sounds to themselves as I sat quietly to listen. It sounded so much like birds. It made me chuckle how cute they were. But I startled there space and they started to scramble fast. I sat back into the hay, with Leo awakening from his large nap. I felt so tired as I stayed awake letting him rest next to me throughout the night. He had his hand resting unknowingly next to mine and as he slept I gently stroked the top of his hand to test this strange feeling I experienced so regularly since our strange encounter. As he woke, he realised our hands were still interlocked, this caused him to slowly stroke his thumb against my wrists.

It caused me to shudder, but a small warmth began to rise in me. It made me smile back. ‘Good morning sleepy head, enjoy your nap?’. Leo looked embarrassed and quickly let go of my hand. He rustled his hair when large twigs fell out and caused me to laugh hard.

‘Go-ood morning princess, how are you today? s**t I shouldn’t of stayed asleep so long. How’s the journey going?’.

The cart slowed after hitting a bump hard sending me flying into Leo in a heap. I looked down to only see him staring straight into my face. He quickly gripped my sides and pressed his lips to mine. This took me by shock but it also felt so good.

Letitia

‘Guys’ she stepped around the side of the cart and pulled the door down allowing us some separation. Both of us looked so caught out in the act. We quickly got up and started shaking our clothes off.

She laughed and shook her head, her male friend had left us along in the battle at the stables. Still unsure on what actually happened I noticed a large cloth wrapped around her ankle and forearm. She had seen me look and intervened by covering them with her large cloak.

‘Welcome to the kingdom your highness, please wear this for some comfort of the villagers eyes’.

I started to panic wondering what would happen if we were caught. Patrick approached ready with the horses either side pulling them towards us.

‘Fate! I’m so happy your awake!, how are your ears? Any lose of sound or feeling faint…’. He said panicking.

‘Well Patrick, try not to panic the girl. She’s been through enough with you two dweebs. Fate do you remember that happened? It was like nothing I’ve even seen before.’ I started to describe the situation that occurred only yesterday. Everything happened so fast. Me and the lads chose our weapons hoping to protect the princess with all of our souls and powers the gods would allow us.

She walked straight to the guards and within seconds she had used her astonishing powers… lightning bolts hit every single guard that dared approach us. We we’re all sent back by the impact causing most of us to hit the fences. Unfortunately my friend was hit the worst. A huge splinter that had broken off with the impact had pierced his chest. I screamed and went running to help but even with my healing skills it was too late. I was not able to rescue my lover…. But the mission was to protect her. So I ran to collect the horses and the guards cart.

My friend and lover will not have died in vain.

Fate

Every time she told me the story I had to repeat it in my head. I now knew I had to believe what was going on around me and have faith in these people. Although it would take a lot of trust for Patrick, my only friend to gain me as a friend again. He lied to me.

‘Where are we going, I need food I’m so hungry.’ Patrick ran to the front of the cart and back as quick as possible and bent in front of me. He handed me a small package wrapped in a cream covered cloth.

‘Here Fae, I tried to save you something from the stables…. I’m afraid that’s all we have left’ he gulped. He seemed so nervous so I decided to give him a teddy bear hug to thank him and the others. I finally realised I needed these people, especially if I needed to know what I was up against.

Leo suddenly dropped to his knees and screamed, gripping his head. I felt such an magnetic pull towards him. I grabbed his shoulders trying to shake him out of whatever was causing him harm. Until he finally came free of whatever had a hold of him.

‘My god… I’m so sorry Fae. I promised myself to protect you but I’m not sure I can. So much is to come and I’m actually scared.’

I looked at him in disbelief. What could of scared him so much?

Patrick shouted demanding answers-‘Leo,what’s happening, tell me know or I swear!

What do we need to do’.

Leo-‘they are coming my friend, and I can’t see the right path to guide her home. I’ve failed’. He looked so saddened. I pulled him close unsure why I felt the need. But he turned to smile at me.

‘My beauty, I’ve had a small glance into your future. One way was so terrifying but you will grow to be the most beautiful queen. Please, let me be your saviour’.

I looked at him unsure to make out what he was trying to say to me, all I could reply was ‘yes, why not’. I had no idea what I was letting myself into, but I needed him in my life. I’m just not sure how yet.
