Unbroken

Letitia began to grab Fae’s wrist to check for her pulse… ‘she’s slowing down we must act now’. We grabbed hold around her starting to chant slowly, begging our gods to help protect our true princess. A wind began to gather around us like a small tornado and we knew that the gods had granted us a blessing as we soon appeared in the courtyard of south forests palace. ‘Quickly!’ I shouted. ‘ we need to hide her before the other guards are informed of the outbreak below the tunnels. The prince will have our heads’. Leo and Patrick helped to carry Fae unconscious to the stables with the help of Letitia friend Micheal. ‘Get me a bucket of water and some towels Micheal, how long has she been sick?’ Asked Letitia to Patrick. ‘Not long, I knew we need to be here now. I tried my best but the ointments seared off and they began to track us.’ He panicked. Leo paced back and forth beginning to feel sick with worry. ‘Please tell me she will be ok?! I can’t see her future or what’s to come. Something is clouding my vision’. Fae I Cassie in what seemed like a memory of me sitting as a young ten year old in the fostering home, a young couple approached me. I felt so shy and unwilling to talk. All I had ever wanted was a family to live me as there own. But a real mother and father. But when the man spoke to me, his first words really broke my heart. ‘Hey kid, do you want to go climbing with me today…. We can get ice cream after?’ All I could think was… is he lying, why would he do that for me? No one has ever wanted to take me away. I quickly glanced at his gentle looks and how he was holding the ladies hand calmly with a smug look on his face. I nodded quickly and grabbed my backpack. They only contents I owned was my sketch pad and colours. The only thing that normally took me away from my harsh reality as an orphan. That day we climbed the red rocks, I got to choose for the first time an ice cream. As I took my first lick, I knew this family was mine. They smiled and watched me eat as though I had never eaten before. I really took into consideration every flavour that came to mind. Soft caramel and toffee. Forever my favourite. But as I took the last bit of the cone the memory slipped and I felt like screaming inside. As I woke, reality hit me. Where was I? The background slipped to see two pairs of strangers staring down at me. Where was Leo and Patrick? I sat up quick trying to shuffle backwards way from them. But hit a wooden panel. I looked down and saw straw. I heard the horses cry in the background when I heard a bolt open on the gate. Leo! I quickly stood to hug him, trying not to let go. I needed someone familiar I save me. ‘Sweetheart, your awake!’, I felt so much peace at his embrace as he gently picked me up and swirled around laughing. My whole body tingled and my head spin with excitement. The rain outside started to clear and sunlight creeped in through the small tiled windows. The lady opposite us quickly turned embraced and looked at her friend. ‘Hi, I’m Letitia and this is Micheal. My friend and I are just helping you heal hunny. You’ve been out cold and we are healers in our realm. I’m so glad your here’ She stretched out to grab my hand but I quickly pulled back to protect myself. She realised my alarm and took a step back behind her friend. Micheal spoke up. ‘Hi, I’m sure this is all confusing. You see I’m human and was brought to this world as a child too. Letitia saved my life. We would like to try and help you too’. ‘What do you mean help me?’ I replied. I felt so confused so I looked to Leo for help. He slowly wiped the silver hair from my eyes brushing my forehead. I felt like melting into his embrace. One minute he starts as my lecturer and no longer do I know who he is. I need someone I can trust, or can I? Patrick- I set out into the kingdom for supplies, new clothes for the princess, food and weapons. A list I never knew I would need to make. Luckily I had some inheritance left from her mother to help in times of need. As I returned from the town to the stables I felt the warm sun hit my shoulder. I signed with relief. I knew she was alive and ok. I quickly stepped up my pace to the stable gate. Fae was there looking as beautiful as ever, but consumed in Leo’s touch. My jealousy began to rage and I took a few steps back. But before I could try and escape the stables for fresh air, Fae came bounding toward me and jumped into my arms. This came to a massive surprise as I never knew if she would forgive me for lying. But all the jealousy felt washed away so I gripped her back snuggling myself into her hair. She smelt like groomed horses so I began to sneeze causing her to giggle at my response, and so did the rest of the group. At least there was some form of connectivity between us all. ‘Fae, I’m so happy your awake. How are you feeling, here u have you some new clothes and food.’ She grabbed the food from my satchel and scoffed it down her as though she hadn’t eaten all week. I was hoping it would last us a few days but I was so glad she was finally getting a good appetite again. ‘I’m good, I feel like I have so mouth more energy, what did you do, put magix mushrooms in this bread or something?’. I glared at her trying not to snort laughing at her remark but decided to try staying level headed. Now’s the time to tell her the truth. I grabbed her medieval dress from the satchel and politely asked her for changing. She glared at the dress and seem amused at the dress I bought. She was able to escape to the next stable room but we all kept a watchful eye on the doors in case of intruders or guards. When she came out she looked slightly embarrassed but my friends quickly took to there knees….’your highness!’.
