The ceremony starts off with the Kanya Daan, in which the Neha’s parents give her away to Lucy’s parents who then hands her to Lucy. The priest lights a holy fire called the Agni and then Lucy and Neha joins their hands together and begin to circle around the Agni as a ritual called the Mangal Phera.
After that, Lucy and Neha takes the Saptapadi, a seven steps symbolizing the seven sacred vows given by both of them to the other at the completion of each step to support each other and live happily together after which Lucy a tray of red powder is extended to Lucy which he rubs on the centre of Neha’s forehead using his thumb and later tie the Mangal Sutra, a black and gold necklace around her neck, symbolizing that she’s now a married woman and the couple’s devotion to each other.
