Chapter 16

Chapter 16Maddie’s pov

I couldn’t believe I was moving in with Marcus and Jaylah. I was so happy. I woke up being held safely in his arms. I wiggled free then went to the bathroom to get ready for my day.

I got an early appointment, so I could get this over with. Then I was going back to my place to pack before spending the rest of my day with Jaylah while Marcus went to a meeting.

When I was ready, I kissed Marcus, and told him I would be back. He wanted to come with me, but I told him it wasn’t necessary. I knew I just had the flu. I get why he was being so cautious after losing his wife. He was scared he was going to lose me.

I got to the doctor’s office and waited to be called back. The nurse called me back. She weighed me, took my blood pressure then told me to go in a cup. I know this is routine, but I hated this. I mean there was no way I could get pregnant, and this was like a reminder of that.

When I was done the nurse showed me back to a room and said the doctor would be right with me. I looked at the pictures on the wall and chewed my nails. I hated waiting around on people. I was a very impatient person, and it always felt like you waited hours on this tiny room for the doctor. I was about to just go home when a woman in a white coat finally came in.

“Hello Maddie, I am Doctor Rossi. So, what brings you here today?”

I wanted to tell her to look at my chart, but I wasn’t that rude.

“Well I have been sick for the last several weeks, and my boyfriend felt I should come in.”

“Well let’s take a look at you.”

She looked in my ears, and my throat.

“I would like to run a blood test just to make sure you’re not dehydrated. Once that is back along with your urine test, I will know more what has been going on with you. I will send someone in to draw blood.”

“Okay thank you doctor.”

Great nothing, I hate worse than getting blood drawn. I know they are just doing their job, but the sight of blood makes me dizzy. Once they were finished up, they showed me back to the room, and said the doctor would be with me.

I just wanted to go home, and pack. The sooner I was done the sooner I could move in with my family. That sounded so nice. The nurse came in and said the doctor would go over everything with me in her office. I was scared. Usually this meant bad news.

“Hello Maddie okay so I have some good news for you I hope.”

“Okay please just tell me.”

“Well Congratulations Maddie you’re going to be a mom.”

I looked at her like she was crazy. If this was her idea of a joke I was not laughing. Why would she be cruel like this?

“Um Doctor Rossi that isn’t funny. I can’t have children.”

“Well I assure you this isn’t a mistake. I would like to take you back for an ultrasound just to make sure everything is alright.”

I just nodded my head unable to speak. Could I really be pregnant? I haven’t been with Marcus that long. Well I guess it has been two months since we had s*x and we didn’t use protection since I was told by not one but two doctors that this could never happen. Did they have it all wrong?
