Horace's pov
My hands twisted the door handle and I felt some pressure lessen.
I opened the door to Isabel composing herself, I could care less to why she might have been listening to me while I was with Solana but she should have a good reason why regardless.
I closed the door behind me and narrowed my gaze towards her.
“Isabel?”
My eyes caught her throat moving from swallowing what looked like anxiety.
“Um the papers you requested for.” Shoving a file of papers towards me and obviously deviating from the obvious question.
I glanced at the papers she held out and then at her.
“I assume you lost your way” I started to say
“No.” Holding up her chin "I just wanted to give it to you directly”
I brush past her, heading downstairs
“I don't think there was ever a need for that” I replied, files were sent to my office and she knew that, stopping to listen to me and Solana was entirely on her own accord.
“Well I also wanted to discuss something important” running after me, the sound of her heels aching my auditory nerves.
I stopped and she stopped as well
“Isabel. To my office” I deepened my voice and narrowed my gaze at her sternly, she rolled her eyes and walked back to the hallways leading to my office.
Meanwhile I reached for my phone as soon as she had left and called the doctor, he had been here earlier but it was okay right I informed him about her current state.
I could have killed Raymond but It was a shame she still loved him and doing that might make her unwilling to comply with my terms.
Solana was essential to my plans, to my thirst of revenge that unfortunately the Castillo's could be part of.
I let Raymond escape, grazing just his arm to send off a warning or was Solana so important to him that he would consider risking coming for her again? surely it wasn't because of love.
I knew and had heard about Castillo's root in the underworld and Solana seemed too oblivious to part of it.
Speaking of Solana.
Having seen her in that state, where it seemed like she couldn't breathe or hear anything made my skin prickled. Hating myself for letting her affect me as much as she did.
I headed back to the office, where as expected, Isabel played on my desk with just her underwear. I closed the door and walked past her.
Weeks ago she smelt like fine red strawberries and I would not have mind f*****g her right here on the table, now whatever scent she had on made me rethink breathing around her.
“Put on your clothes” I corner the desk and draw out a chair to sit on.
Isabel sat up straight, her forehead creased and expression, plain.
“What?” her opera like voice echoed in the office
“You heard me, Isabel” ignoring her expression and reaching for the file she had carelessly placed on the other side of the desk.
“You never refuse this” she argued, her face laced with worry.
I glanced at the file and it was exactly what I asked for, then at her
“What did you come to talk about?” I asked
she kept her jaw clenched as she threw on her clothes then turned to me.
“I heard what you said” crossing her arm.
“Which was?”
I heard her scoff, she stepped closer and unfolded her arms, placing them on my desk.
“You're letting that girl come too close to you,” she paused, waiting for my response but all I could offer was a bred expression “making her your assistant”
“And how does this affect you in any way?”
I turned to her, watched her furrow her brow before she brought herself to say back.
“I am your assistant Sir”
“Well you can be an assistant to my assistant”
“Bullshit!” She fired. It was my turn to arch my brow at her. Everyone knew their place and though I had treated Isabel more than my pawn since she was the only one strong-willed enough to warm my bed and work for me without pouting, this tone could be mistaken for jealousy.
“Did I make myself clear or are you out to oppose my decision"
She swallowed.
“Sir, I am sorry for my impudence but I have more experience working by your side than that girl…”
My fist suddenly hammed against the desk, causing her to flinch and keep shut.
" Do I have to remind you that ‘that girl’ is my wife?”
She looked away, "No sir.”
" Look at me Isabel” I ordered and she turned unwillingly. “Is there going to be a problem between you and my wife?”
She hesitated "No sir”
I offered a stiff smile as I laid back on where I sat
"Good. Now leave, I need information on when the next shipments will be arrive”
With that she turned to her heels and took quick steps out, banging the door behind her.
I let out some air then opened the file.
I knew Solana was being used but I needed more information on how, flipping through the pages of the file, it was filled with a list of buyers the Castillo's had sold properties to, properties that were never traced back to them as theirs.
They were Solana's and she would love him so much to transfer her properties to him after all his parents did take care of her.
But legally, they needed to get married.
I stroked my chin, feeling how slightly rough it was from not shaving throughout the whole of the week.
I closed the file and tossed it to the other side of my desk, leaning back to my chair.
If Solana was just as important to the Castillo's then I had the advantage.
I dialed Marco's number and one ring.
“Inform the Castillo's that my wife will be taking important stuff from their house, take my lawyer with you"
