His girlfriend?

TESSA “Why did you declare me yours?” “Relax,” Kyle said, stretching his long legs on his bike. “He won't bother you again.” His eyes pointed at Snake. His dark eyes were fixed on us, burning with a fury. “Get on, glasses.” “Get on? I'm not leaving with you…” My gaze dropped. “On your bike.” He sighed, rolling his helmet in his hands. “Well, if you want to stay back and finish your discussion with Snake, carry on.” My stomach twisted. I searched for Maya only to spot her behind Raven's bike. Her gaze met mine. “Tessa, let's get out of here! Quick!” She shouted. My gaze moved to Snake one last time. He was pissed. “I-I am going with you.” Throwing off my shame and rage, I hopped on his bike. He passed me a cocky, tight smile before putting on his helmet, his blue eyes still looking at me through the open visor. I placed my hands on the leather seat and slowly perched behind him, my legs on either side. “Come closer and hold me tight, glasses,” he muttered softly, observing the distance between us. I was almost at the edge. “You saw me earlier. You'll fall, glasses.” “I won't. Just go.” My fingers gripped the cold, silver handle behind me. “Suit yourself.” He smirked, shutting down the visor of the helmet. With a violent kick, he started the bike, and the engine roared like a lion, sending a shiver down my spine. As we left the racing street, the Iron Reapers right behind us, and I could hear the shouting fading away into the cold night air. My hair was tousled, dancing with the wind. Deep down, I felt a strange kind of peace, the kind I thought I’d never find again. The night air brushed against my skin like soft feathers, cool and teasing as the city lights blurred around us. Every rush of wind against my body made me feel weightless, untamed. And for once… I wasn’t scared. I wasn’t angry. I was simply letting go, letting Kyle’s bike carry me wherever the night wanted to take us. A small smile tugged at my lips as I closed my eyes for a second, feeling the powerful vibration of the engine beneath me. But the smile vanished quickly when he suddenly accelerated harder. The bike surged forward with speed. “Kyle, slow down!” A startled gasp escaped me as my body slipped slightly backward. My fingers instantly lost their grip on the metal handle behind me, panic flashing through my chest for half a second before I fell forward instead, straight against Kyle’s back. Warmth crashed into me immediately. My arms wrapped tightly around his chest on instinct, fingers curling against the hard muscles beneath his jacket while the scent of leather, smoke, and him surrounded me completely. His body tensed for a second beneath my touch. Then I felt it, the slow tilt of his head, the smug satisfaction he was definitely trying to hide. “Careful, glasses. I warned you,” his deep voice rumbled over the roar of the engine. I loosened my hold, embarrassed by how tight I was clinging to him, but Kyle’s left hand suddenly left the handlebar. Without slowing down, he grabbed my wrists and pulled my arms tighter around his chest, forcing my body flush against his back. “If you're gonna hold me, hold me tight,” he said roughly over the roar of the engine. My breath caught. Every nerve in my body felt awake, hyperaware of the warmth between us, of the way his chest rose beneath my arms, of how easily he controlled me without even looking back. My fingers curled tighter against him. “Nervous, glasses?” he teased, his voice smooth and dangerous. I swallowed hard, my cheek almost brushing the back of his dark jacket as the bike sped through the night air. The worst part? I didn’t know if I was more terrified of the speed or of how close he was to me. My chest was tight against his back, every muscle in my body tensing, until he pushed the brake in front of my café. I quickly got off and rushed inside without looking back. He stepped inside, drawing my attention, and locked the door. “Kyle, what are you doing?” He didn't answer. Instead, he pulled the white curtains, covering the glass windows. *Is it about the kiss?* My heart dropped. Slowly, he closed the distance between us until only inches remained. My pulse immediately lost its rhythm. Something was terrifying about the way Kyle moved, calm, confident, like he already knew exactly how this would end. I instinctively took a step backward, but my knees hit the chair behind me, and I stumbled down onto it with a startled breath. Kyle didn’t stop. He casually pulled his phone from the pocket of his pants and placed it onto the table beside me, the small sound somehow making the silence between us feel even heavier. Then he looked at me, leaning closer. I gripped the wood of the chair, convinced he wanted the kiss he owed. Instead, his hand braced itself against the headrest of the chair beside me. “Do you hate me so much that you went to someone like Snake?” My shoulders slightly loosened. I finally got my breathing back. It wasn't about the kiss. Still, I could feel his warm breath, maddeningly close to my lips. “You ruined my business, Kyle.” He tilted his head slightly. “If I weren't there tonight, Snake would've dragged you to his room, Tessa Vance.” For the first time since I came here, he called me by my real name. The sound of it on his lips sent a slow shiver down my spine. Kyle curled his fingers around the back of the chair beside me, trapping me there without force, without effort. “Challenge me,” he murmured, eyes locked onto mine with terrifying intensity. His gaze dipped briefly to my lips before returning upward, slow enough to make my stomach tighten. “But don’t invite trouble.” My lips sighed. “I am sorry.” He raised a brow, surprised maybe. “But… I still want you out of my café.” I made it clear before he took my sorry for a defeat. Just then, the phone resting on the table suddenly started buzzing against the wood. The sound sliced straight through the tension between us. Kyle didn’t move at first. His eyes stayed locked on mine, unreadable, while the screen continued flashing beside my hand. Then I saw it. Incoming call: Lily (Girlfriend) with a red heart symbol.
