KYLE
I wrapped my hands around her legs and smoothly lifted her on my shoulder as if she was made of feathers.
“Let me go!” Her drunken voice screamed.
She was struggling against my grip, punching my upper back, and kept twisting her body. Unfortunate for her she couldn't break my hold.
“You asked for it, glasses,” I said, carrying her out of the club and into the dark straight to my wife… My bike, Isabella.
I helped her onto my bike, settling her on the seat facing me before shrugging off my leather jacket. Wrapping it securely around our waists,
As I tightened the knot, Tessa leaned forward, her palms resting against my chest for balance.
For a brief moment, neither of us moved.
The moonlight danced across her face, while her green eyes lifted to mine. I forced myself to focus, finishing the knot before stepping back just enough to grip the handlebars.
“Hold tight, glasses,” I said, starting the engine.
She drew in a deep breath, and the scent of vodka lingered between our lips.
“Tomorrow,” she declared with drunken confidence, “I’m telling the entire town you kidnapped me.”
A chuckle escaped me before I could stop it.
“Sure,” I replied. “Do that.”
“Kyle!” The sharp voice cut through the night.
I glanced toward the club entrance. Lily had stepped outside, her eyes fixed on us. I passed her a glance, twisted the throttle, and drove off.
She kept shouting my name but I didn't stop.
“You smell nice…” She whispered, her fingers crawling up to my face. Slowly, she started tracing my features, moving her fingers from my forehead to the outline of my bottom lip.
“What are you doing, glasses?”
“The only good thing about you is your handsome face, Kyle Maxwell…” Without warning, she wrapped her arms around my neck, her lips brushing against my skin.
I tightened my grip on either of the handles, letting her do whatever sin she was doing. “At least you think I'm handsome.”
She slightly tilted her head. “A handsome face doesn't guarantee a kind heart.”
The corner of my lips curled.
She spent the entire ride keeping me distracted, leaning closer than necessary, and testing my patience with every passing mile.
By the time we reached her house, I was more relieved than I cared to admit. I killed the engine and untied the leather jacket that had been securing us together. Once the knot came loose, I helped her down from the bike.
But the moment her feet touched the ground, she swayed slightly. Instinct took over, and I slipped my arms around her waist before she could lose her balance.
“Careful, glasses,” I muttered softly, tightening my hold just enough to keep her upright. “You’re not exactly walking in a straight line.”
With my support, she stood before her door.
“Where are the keys?”
“Key?” She raised her hands. “Somewhere in my body. Find it.”
“Wait…” I was a little surprised.
“Who keeps keys in their body?” I didn't believe her, so I checked her purse. There was no key inside. “Really, glasses?” My brows furrowed.
“Well, I do,” she giggled. “It's a safe place.”
“Fine.” I leaned over her, letting my shadow swallow her up. Slowly, my fingers touched the skin of her chest, feeling the warmth beneath. My eyes were focused on her as I ran a single finger down the center of her chest, tracing the soft curve of her cleavage.
“There are no keys, glasses,” I said, my voice dropping low.
Her breath hitched. “Oh... I forgot.” She let her hands drop, her eyes locked on mine as my fingers dragged slowly away. “I gave them to Maya in the club.”
“You should've said earlier.”
She smiled like a kid.
“Forgive me,” I muttered, picking up a stone from the ground. Without hesitation, I brought it down hard against the lock.
The broken lock crashed onto the porch with a loud clang, echoing through the quiet night.
I dropped the stone and glanced at her.
“You’ll need to buy a new lock.”
Then I pushed the door open as if breaking into her house was the most reasonable solution. Stepping inside, I ran my eyes around the interior. Just two rooms, one kitchen, and a cozy living room. She hadn't changed anything. It was the same as her grandpa had left.
I perched her down on the couch. “Take a rest. Okay? I'm leaving.”
She grabbed my wrist, looking into my eyes like a lost puppy. “Don't go.”
“You want me to stay?”
She nodded, staring at the floor.
“Alright. Let me inform the gang.” I pulled out my phone from the pocket of my pants and called Zen. [Did you safely drop Maya?]
[Yeah. But Mrs. Gable almost had a heart attack when she saw me at her door.]
[She's dramatic.]
[When are you coming back to the club? Lily’s throwing a tantrum.]
[I am not coming tonight. I'm staying with her.]
[Bro, what's wrong with you? You were never the caring type. Don't tell me you've started to like your school enemy.]
[Shut up! I'm only helping her because of her grandpa. He told me to protect his granddaughter if she ever comes back. We owe that old man, buddy.]
[So you don't like her?]
[She's not my type.] I turned around and words died in my throat. She was standing behind me, her dress on the sofa, and only her lace black bra and panties clung to her body.
[Kyle? You there?] Zen’s voice echoed around us like a siren. I ended the call, my gaze moving down to her legs then slowly crawling up back to her face.
“Tessa?” I wanted to make sure she was drunk, and not playing games with me.
She was silent.
