Episode Two: Cheating scumbag

2198 Words
The next morning, I got a message from the school, confirming the meeting was to take place at two. I inform Phillip to make sure he meets me at school before two and make him promise to not forget. I then start my morning routine; I go for a jog, prepare breakfast, wake the kids up, pack their school bags and lunches and help Becky to get dressed and ready before driving them to school. I just want this meeting to be over with. I hate confrontations. The day goes by slowly as I await the meeting. I hope Phillip shows up. I’m not dealing with this s**t alone. I go to the school and just like he promised me this morning, he showed up for once. We go to the principal’s office. I don't like being the last to arrive, so I always make sure to be early. But as we approach the office, I see a woman shaking the principal’s hand as he shows her inside. Guess she had the same idea. My husband is the first to extend his hand out to the principal and after they exchange some formalities, I greet him as well. He shows us inside his office and offers us two seats next to the woman who he then points to: “This is Letisha, Morgan’s mom.” He introduces her and then turns to us as he says; “This is Alice’s mom, Amanda, and her dad, Phillip.” We nodded as we acknowledged each other. That name hits me like a wave. Was it her texting him last night? She was very attractive, with dark skin, dark hair and dark eyes, she appeared somewhat exotic. She was wearing a very short black dress, wrapped tight around her tiny waist and wearing expensive black high heels that showed off her perfect long legs. Who dresses like that for a meeting at your child’s school? It looks more like she is in an interview for a stripper opening. I could feel Phillip's eyes watching her exposed cleavage, but even the principal was having a hard time keeping his eyes off her. The principal then again takes the lead: “Mrs. Preston, your daughter Morgan, has been targeting and continually bullying their daughter, Alice. We have called you in today to discuss this very serious matter in the hope of resolving this between all of us. If Morgan continues to bully Alice, I will have to bring the matter up with the school board, who will then decide on a course of action which might ultimately lead to her expulsion. Obviously, we do not want this to happen and therefore, we need you to talk to your daughter and explain to her the seriousness of her actions.” She places her head in her hands and begins to sob softly. What a manipulative b***h! Phillip then says: “This is ridiculous, they are just children. Why are we making such a big deal of this? It can’t be just Morgan; we should just tell them both to stop fighting.” I feel my blood boiling. Traitor! How can he stand against his own daughter? I asked him here to defend her not impress this slut of a woman! I then went off. “What? Are you suggesting that Alice is to blame? We have already talked to them. It is very clear that Alice is the victim and the bullying has not stopped. I would like Morgan to be removed from Alice’s classroom and that she should know to stay away from her. Alice is the one crying every day and who does not want to go to school in the mornings. It is affecting her negatively and she has done nothing to deserve this. If your daughter harasses her again, I will take further steps against her.” The woman looks up and gives me a hateful look and again my husband defends this stranger. “You are over reacting, Amanda. We are talking about little girls, not inmates.” The principal senses the rising tension and quickly intervenes; “I’m afraid I would have to agree with Amanda on this. Alice’s emotional state is very fragile, and it would maybe do both girls good to separate them. But I still need you to talk to your daughter and tell her to stop the bullying.” The principal says as he looks at the tearful woman. At least someone has my back. And for asecond I thought I had caught a moment between Phillip and Letisha when their eyes locked. “Can we go now?” I asked, not sure what to make of the gut feeling I had about my husband and this woman who most likely messaged him last night. As I walk out in a rush, Phillip catches up to me, he grabs my upper arm and makes me stop. “Can you be anymore rude? You didn’t even greet the people when you stormed out”, he says. “Sorry I thought you and your girlfriend would like some privacy! I can’t believe you took her child’s side over your own daughter’s!” I said, pissed off. “I’m sorry, but you are just taking things out of context again. I’m in a rush, we will discuss this later at home. I need to get to a meeting.” He says and then leaves, ignoring my remarks about the woman being his girlfriend. He is always running away from the issue at hand. I glance back at the office and see the principal escorting Letisha to her car while they continue talking some more. I got an idea and ran back to the office. I quickly look through the student’s files and find Morgan’s dad’s number and leave the office without anyone noticing me. I dial the number and after a few rings, a man answers’ “Richard speaking” “Good day Mr. Preston, I’m calling from Morgan’s school. We have just spoken to your wife regarding Morgan continually bullying her classmate, Alice. I just want to find out if you are aware of her behaviour and whether you might have some insight as to what the cause might be”, I say, as I pretend to be a school official. “Why was I not told of this meeting? Probably that f*****g b***h who’s always hiding things from me. Of course, Morgan is acting out and targeting Alice. She told me that she walked in on her mom and Alice’s dad, f*****g like rabbits! That is why I divorced that cheating w***e. Morgan has been traumatised by her mother lusting after some billionaire and she is bullying Alice because she blames her father for our divorce. I really hope that my daughter is not in any trouble. Blame her mother, not her!” he says in an angry tone. Trying to keep my composure and not give away my emotional state, I then say; “Morgan will not be expelled at this time, but we are separating them for the time being and I urged her mother to talk to her and explain that the bullying needs to stop. Thank you for clearing up the reason for the aggression and we will keep in touch. Good day sir” My heart is pumping fast and I feel as though I cannot breathe. My husband is a cheating scumbag!! I got in my car and drove to the nearest law firm and met with an attorney and after explaining the situation to him, I asked; “I need to know what my rights are if we do decide to get a divorce. Will he be able to cut me off financially or take my children away from me?” “Do you and your husband have any contract to specify the marriage terms, like a prenup?”, he asks. “No, we never signed any contracts when we got married.” I told him. “Well, I’ll have to confirm with his lawyers, but if this is the case, you won’t be cut off and he will be responsible for your and your children’s finances. I’m sure a man with his wealth can continue to pay for your living standards.” The lawyer explains. “Let’s not contact his lawyers just yet, I still need to speak to him first.” I told him and then paid for the consultation. A feeling of relief sweeps over me knowing that my children and I will be taken care of if we divorce. With that in mind, I can no longer find a reason to still fight for this toxic marriage I’ve been in for the last four years. I spent the rest of the afternoon with my kids in the park nearby. When we arrive home, Phillip’s car is parked in the driveway. Why would he be home this early? I took a deep breath, ready to confront him about his affair and tell him I wanted a divorce. But what we walked in on was the last thing I expected. He was standing at the door, neatly dressed in a suit and tie with four roses in his hand. When the girls enter, he presents each of them with a rose and when it’s my turn, he leans in and kisses me passionately on the lips, before giving me my rose. The house is dimly lit with candles and down lights, the table is set and there are flowers displayed everywhere. The house is filled with the aroma of the bouffe of seafood set in the middle of the table. “Hope you are all hungry,” he says, and then pulls out a chair for me. What is this man up to now? Why was he doing this? I decide to ask questions later when I see my girls smiling as he makes jokes and engages in conversations about their day and more. For now, I will enjoy the moment and worry about his motives later. After dinner, he continues to amaze me by putting all the girls to bed and spending time with each of them before going to bed. That is when I asked him: “What is all of this about?” “I um, saw that you went to see a lawyer today?” He says as he lowers his head like he is ashamed. Shit, I had forgotten that he gets notifications on all my transactions, he must have seen the payment for the consultation, but I decided to answer him straight: “What do you expect me to do if you are f*****g another woman?” “Who am I f*****g Amanda?” He asks innocently “Really, you’re going to deny that you and Letisha are having an affair? An affair that has already ruined her marriage and f****d up her kid? How could you”, I say, now feeling all the emotions hit me at once. “How do you know all that?” he asks as he realises that I know about them. “I spoke to her husband today, who told me that Morgan saw the two of you having s*x! I also saw that she texted you last night and you even defended her daughter against your own! Don’t even try to deny it!” I said loudly. “Yes, I’ll admit it, we had s*x, but we are not having an affair. She threw herself at me and one thing led to another, but I never took it further. She texted me about the meeting with the principal. That was all. The only reason I defended Morgan was because I felt guilty for causing her to bully Alice. You are the only woman I want. I love you and the kids more than anything. Please don’t leave me.” He pleaded. “You never show us that you care about us. You’re almost never home and you never spend time with us. Why do you want to stay in a marriage that you are always running away from?” I asked, still not convinced that he was being sincere. “I know I am guilty, and I am sorry. I take you and the kids for granted and I need to make more effort. Let me make it up to you. Let’s go on a family vacation. Let’s get away from the city and all the distractions and work on our marriage. Please Amanda, I don’t want to lose you. I cannot lose you. I want to make you happy.” He says and looks at me with his large brown eyes. “Fine, I’ll give our marriage one more change, but this is the last time you hurt us like this!” I said. He pulls me in his arms and says, “You will not regret this. I’m taking you and the children to my mother’s house, which is its own private beach on a remote island.” He starts to kiss me passionately and, for the first time in years, we make love, gently and passionately.
