Adelaide POV:
I woke in a strange bed, the Egyptian cotton sheets were soft against my naked skin. Naked? I peaked under the sheet, and all my clothes were gone. I didn't feel different or hurt, but why was I naked?
"Good morning," came a rough voice from the corner of the room, "who are you?" I asked, eying the butter knife next to me. "Are you going to slit my throat hunter?" He asked, sipping his coffee, I felt shaky, but I grabbed the knife, jumping up and taking a defensive stance, he eyed my body from head to toe, "maybe cut out my heart then?" He asked as he put his cup down and stood up, walking towards me, I swung the knife and made to s***h at his face, but he caught my wrist bending my arm as he pulled me closer to him roughly, "no, I see it in your eyes, you would rather break my heart into tiny pieces." His words stirred at something inside of me. He let me go, "I am assuming that you don't remember anything from last night." His words, like a puzzle that had found its other piece, clicked in my head and an image of black fur covering my body and morphing into a large black beast flashed before me.
I dropped the knife. He smiled coyly, "So do you remember?" I took a step back, "you're a wolf." "Well, yes, same as you." He was baiting me, "I am nothing like you," I said coldly. "We're both wolves aren't we?" He repeated mocking me, "You're mistaken, I'm not a wolf, I'm a hunter-" He cut me off like it was friendly conversation taking place between two friends. "I'm Luke, since we're introducing ourselves, Luke the were-wolf since titles are so important." "Where are my clothes?" I asked, he smiled like he was amused at my question, "don't you recall?" He asked, "you ripped through them." I felt humiliated, I wasn't expecting that. I cleared my throat without missing a step. "Give me yours then," I had stunned him, and a piece of me felt that I had won at this little game between us. "You can run in your wolf-skin, beast," I said with venom in my voice. "I can little wolf." Anger flashed in my eyes, "don't call me that!" He took of his t-shirt handing it to me, I snatched it from his hands and pulled it over my head, "now your pants!" He chuckled, "if you wanted me naked, all you needed to do was ask." I ignored his witty comments. He handed me his pants and I pulled it on, "I'll see you around Little Wolf," he said, walking past me, his vanilla scent filling my nose and dulling my senses.
"Mate." Whispered a voice inside of me.
He turned at that exact moment, and his eyes flashed with gold, and he pinned me against the wall in one fluid motion. My arms flat against the wall, as he breathed in my scent. "Mine." He growled. I wanted to fight back, but something made me feel weak, it was his smell, his eyes, his skin. I wanted him.
He pushed off of me, stepping back. I was in a stupor, he laughed. "Still denying your wolf blood?" He asked, and I couldn't answer. The thoughts in my head were so dirty, like they were not even mine. I had never thought about Daniel the way I was thinking about this man. I took a step forward, against my will. My body was acting separate from my brain. He took a step forward, closing the distance between us, he lifted his hand, twirling my dark hair around his finger. "I want to know your name Hunter," he said, and I felt myself naturally melting as I looked into his eyes, I wanted to say that I would be whatever he wanted to call me, but instead "Adelaide," rolled off my tongue. "Adelaide," he repeated, it sounded so sweet as the invisible letters escaped his pink lips. A phone rang, and the trance we were in was broken, and I pushed past him.
"I'll be leaving." He looked at me as I walked to the door, "I'll see you again Little Wolf," he said, I turned to look over my shoulder, "next time I see you Beast, I'll cut out your heart!"
