Chapter8

Snooze And Loose “Oh s**t. Not again,” Raven moaned. He would rather not get involved in another brawl with Kael. He regretted the first one that happened and wished it never did. “What do we do now? This doesn't seem too good,” Aria panicked. She is so sure that Kael has returned to start a fight with Raven. A fight she caused by refusing to leave when Kael kicked her out. “We stay and observe. I got this covered. He won't dare do anything stupid,” Raven assured. He was ready to defend himself should Kael decide to launch the first attack. “So what now? Have you come to finish what you started?” Raven fumed as Kael finally got to them. His heart won't stop beating faster like the drums of war. He pretends to be strong, but deep down, fear has enveloped him. He wished he possessed some magical powers to enable him to disappear from the scene without traces. He managed to defeat Kael the first time at the conference hall. This time, he might not be lucky. “Calm your nerves, son. I'm here to make peace with you,” Kael uttered. “Make peace with me?” Raven's tone faded like the evening sun. That's the most shocking thing he has heard in a long time. He glances at Aria as they share a telling look. He could tell that they're harbouring the same thought right now. “Are you really sure about that, or you're pulling my legs?” Raven asked for confirmation. He refused to fall for Kael gimmicks. A while ago, Kael behaved as though he was ready to rip Raven's heart apart, only for him to return with some peace talks. “It's okay for you to be stunned, Raven. I thought about this a while ago and figured that what happened between us could have been avoided,” Kael explained better. He also apologized to Aria for how he treated her in the conference hall. “You're the Luna of the bloodhound pack and deserves to be treated like one,” he finally acknowledges her position in the pack. “Have you both forgiven me?” He asked again. Neither of them were ready to speak. “Sure, we have. There's no point holding grudges at each other,” Raven spoke on Aria's behalf. “Great!” Kael exclaimed with excitement . Raven's response meant a lot to him. “Can we at least shake hands together to seal this unity?” Kael extends his hand. Raven looked at the hand before staring at Aria. She gave him a nod of consent. “Fine! Let's do it,” Raven sighed and accepted the handshake. Kael walked away with some smiles of accomplishment. He cherished that moment a lot. It felt like he just hit a jackpot. A few minutes after Kael exited, Raven and Aria still can't wrap their hands around Kael apology. “That's weird. I don't believe the things he said,” raven expressed his thoughts. “Me too!” Aria endorsed. “He's definitely up to something,” There's something about Kael's apology that bothers her so much “You have got to be careful of him. He's not to be trusted. I can smell danger lurking around you. This is the perfect time to be fully focused and alert,” She advised Raven. She has a feeling that Kael might be up to something evil, but she just can't prove it. She feels that the apology is Kael's way of making Raven forget about the argument that happened in the conference hall. “Hey, Raven,” Aria waved at Raven to bring him back into the conversation. “Are you even listening to me?” He seemed lost and uninterested. All along Aria was speaking, she realized that Raven wasn't paying attention to her. He wasn't even looking in her direction. More like she never existed to him. “Here comes Selene, your sister,” he points to a direction where Selene was. Immediately Selene saw them, she redirected her steps to them. “This might be a good time to get closer to Selene. She isn't aware that we have switched souls,” Aria whispers to raven. She did her best to avoid a third party or passerby from eavesdropping on their conversation. This is a secret she's willing to take to her grave until their souls are restored again. “Oh, there you are. You got me worried. I've searched everywhere for you. Where have you been?” Selene started the conversation after greeting Raven. “She was with me. There's nothing for you to worry about,” Raven chipped in before Aria could speak. “Oh, I see,” Selene sighed. “So I guess I should just leave,” She was about to walk away when Raven stopped her. “No, you can stay. Aria was just leaving,” “Aria, right?” Raven winked at Aria and signalled her to leave. “Of course,” Aria forced a smile. “I'd be in our quarters,” Selene was surprised at Raven's attitude. He isn't always this nice to her. She can't believe that Raven prefers to spend more time with her rather than Aria who's supposed to be his wife. “Do you really have to send her away? I mean, she's your Luna,” Selene bemoaned. As much as she wants to establish a bond with Raven, she still felt sending Aria away wasn't the best option. “She'd be fine,” Raven assured. He held her hand. “Come with me. Let's take a walk to the garden,” Selene freaked out! Everything is happening so fast before her eyes. She is so excited that the moon goddess has finally decided to grant her heart desires. She has always craved moments like this. She sees this as a perfect opportunity to start crawling back into Raven's life again to continue from where they stopped in their previous lives. “How did it go?” Elder Adolphus asked Kael shortly after he returned to his chambers. “It was perfectly executed. He believed the apology was genuine,” Kael disclosed. Aria was right with her assertion about Kael. He didn't mean any of those things he said to them outside. It was all Elder Adolphus' idea to use the fake apology to confuse Raven while they plot for means to get rid of him.
