A Glimpse from the past
Holy moly!” Selene expressed her shock after seeing Alpha Raven.
That was her first time seeing the Alpha, yet his face rang a bell in her head.
“Now I remember,” she snapped her fingers after a thought had crossed her mind.
In her past life, she once had a deep connection with Alpha Raven. But sadly for her, Raven rejected her publicly.
“No, I can't let him have Aria as the man of my dreams. I need to do something about it,” Selene vowed from her hideout.
Just when everyone thought she had gone for good, they showed up at the occasion, pretending that nothing had happened. She dropped the cash in a safe place before making the move.
“Why are you here?” Aurelia attacked Selene.
He berated her for going against the agreed plan.
“Alpha Raven?” Selene greeted him in a sublime tone. She licked her lips before him in a seductive manner.
Alpha Raven lost control of himself as he kept staring at Selene. There's this mystery about her that he just can't unravel.
“Alpha, this is your bride,” Aurelia hurriedly jumped in to break the silence between them.
“Bride?” Aria mumbles in utmost confusion as she beckons to Selene for answers.
Selene couldn't speak. She's angry at herself for giving up what could have been her trophy trap.
If she had known Aurelia was Raven's Beta, she would have given herself up as his bride instead.
Now the deed has been done, and she can't do anything about it to change the past.
“I thought we were supposed to come work for the Alpha?” Aria asked again.
Different narratives are flying in her head that she doesn't want to accept. The only person who could have answered her question is not even talking to her.
“Don't worry, Aria,” finally a word from Selene as she moved closer to Aria, “I'll be your beta. I'm here for you,”
She thought that would be enough to make up for the crime she had committed.
She was stunned when Aria pushed her away. “Don't even come near me,”
She goes on her knees and grips Raven's legs, “My Alpha, please send me away. I can't be your bride. I'm cursed?”
“Cursed?” Raven and Aurelia spoke together as though it were planned.
“Yes, my Alpha,” Aria wiped her tears and stood up from the ground.
She salivated, “I can't be with any man. They all end up dying after getting married to me.”
“How dare you lie to me?” Raven launched a heavy slap to the face of Aria.
“Are you aware you are standing before the Alpha of the bloodhound pack!” He edges closer to her.
He was about to hit her again when Aurelia interceded for Aria.
He pulled Raven away from Aria and pleaded with him to be a bit more merciful.
Selene looked away when Aria needed her the most. She bears the truth, yet acts deaf to it.
She was pleased to see Aria getting slapped in the face. She would give up a fortune to see this happen again.
She was fortunate enough that neither Aurelia nor Raven spoke about the ten thousand-dollar reward that Selene received for luring Aria to the lion's den.
“Show her to her room. Ensure she has everything at her disposal,” Raven ordered Aurelia.
He was on the verge of leaving when he noticed that Selene was still in the picture.
“Take Selene to her quarters too.” He passed the final verdict before his departure.
Aria was devastated, and helpless. She accepted her fate since she couldn't do anything to salvage the situation.
She was shown to her quarters, where she had her bath and ate like an overfed cow.
She tried so hard to forget about the betrayal she suffered from Selene, but it's not working.
A part of her wants to strangle Selene to death with her bare hands.
But on second thought, she considered the punishment that awaits her for partaking in such a crime.

The night is calm and fresh. The night air pulsed with the sound of cricket.
Aria shuffled to her window, narrowing her gaze at the stars in the sky. Everything still feels like a dream to her.
She was still engrossed in her thoughts when she heard a loud knock at the door.
She sealed her lips. She wasn't in the mood to speak to anyone.
Then came a voice saying, “The Alpha demands your presence in his room.”
She recognizes the voice as Aurelia's. Not even her silence was enough to stop Aurelia from dispersing his message.
While an ocean of tears filled her eyes, Aria stepped out of her quarters with anxiety filled her face. She followed Aurelia to the Alpha's chambers without asking questions.
"I want to be left alone with her. You'd be called when needed.” Alpha Raven dismissed his Beta to be with Aria.
“Take off your dress and come join me on the bed,” he shouted at Aria.
The breeze was chilly on her soft palms, and she shivered like a hen drenched by the turbulent, heavy downpour.
Reluctantly, she undressed herself and went completely naked with no clothes on.
"Come here, you peasant. I'm not here to play games!” Irritated by her sluggishness, he pulled Aria by the hair and had s*x with her.
Impatience was slowly killing him. He refused to be moved by her tears.
She wept in anguish, gasping, pleading for Mercy, but there was none to save her.
She was left alone to suffer for what she knew nothing about.
After the aggressive lovemaking, she started bleeding from her private parts.
It's been over two months since Alpha Raven and Aria got married, and it's starting to seem like a regret for Raven.
The first two weeks were hell for both parties as the hate between them became worse. They have practically become each other's sworn enemies.
“Getting married to Aria was a mistake,” Raven would always lament to Aurelia, his beta.
If he had the power to turn back the hands of time, he would have considered another option.
He lost count of how many times he had tried to please Aria, but it wasn't just working. It's as though they were foes in their previous lives.
“She will come around. Trust me, just give her some time,” that has been Aurelia's advice regarding the issue.
Just like Raven, he's already fed up with the situation. The first day he set his eyes on Aria, Aurelia believed that she would emerge as the best thing that has ever happened to Raven.
From what he has witnessed in recent times? He doesn't know what else to believe anymore.
He blamed himself for introducing Aria to Raven. To worsen it, Raven wasn't even aware of the ten thousand dollars that was paid to Selene.
Aurelia was so hell-bent on pleasing his Alpha that he sacrificed his personal savings to make it happen.
“Oh, it's morning already,” Aria yawned in fatigue as the rays of the sunlight flickered through her window and woke her from slumber.
She wasn't a coffee drinker, but she spent the whole of last night discussing it with Selene. They seemed to have buried their hatchet after Selene's apology.
Aria had no option but to let it go. She can't deny that she needs Selene now more than ever, most, especially when Aria is in a strange land.
She tossed off the bed and headed to the restroom to take a quick bath. Slowly, she turned on the shower, only to stumble on the mirror to what seemed unreal.
Behold, there's a reflection of Alpha Raven glittering from the mirror. Scared and stressed, Aria wiped her eyes with water.
“This must be a dream,” she imagined.
