I saw Max approach our group, it was happening… He had smelled Ariel´s scent, and he had recognized her as his mate. His second chance mate, for that matter.
I could see in his eyes the realization that it was her fresh rain and forest scent. He had come to the realization that she was not dead, that his guilt and pain were in vain, and that, ultimately, we all lied to him. That is definitely not good for such a dominant Lycan like Maximus.
