She looked afraid and fragile, and when she went limp in my arms, I was suddenly worried about her well-being.
I took her in my arms and ran away. I needed time with her, whatever Amelia did, hurt my mate so deeply that she is afraid of letting the bond snap into place and joining us for eternity.
Instead of taking her to my floor, I decided to take her to a cabin up in the mountains. A summer house that I haven't used in ages, and that now is going to come in handy. Thankfully despite not using it, I have a caregiver that cleans it and has it ready for when I want to visit, so the place was perfect for keeping my mate away from everyone until we work our issues out.
