Epilogue

481 Words
Khizo couldn't remember anything that happened to him when he woke up inside a royally decorated room. However, slowly, he started to remember the incidents that had happened to him before he had passed out. He had went after Davis and lost the fight once again. It was Cloris who had saved him from getting killed. "You're finally awake!" Cloris entered the room with a smile on his face. "How long was I out?" Khizo asked. "About a day," Cloris replied. "Where am I?"  "In the room of the killer of your family." "How are things going?" "There were a few revolts in the city but Triston managed to calm them. The people want to see their new king now." "Where's King William?" "He left just some time ago for some work," "What work?" "The other kingdoms of Great Alliance have accepted the offer for peace. The treaty will be signed at a council next week. You'll be there too," "And where's Laing and Triston?" "The Kodus Warriors are preparing to leave Petuk and go back to Krimigha." "They're leaving? Why?"  "Laing said that Krimigha is their home and they can't stay away from it. He'll have a talk with you before leaving. As for Triston, he's just standing outside," "Did you call me?" Triston entered the room. "Thanks for taking care of things while I was gone," Khizo said. "It was my duty. Now go; your people are waiting for you," "Are you staying here in Petuk?" Khizo asked. "No, I'll be leaving today for Krimigha. I'm sorry but my place is with King William," Triston apologised. "You could have been useful to us. Davis will be coming back with help for sure and we need to be prepared for it."  "You have my word that I'll come to your aid as soon as the time arrives," Triston promised, "Now don't keep your people waiting for long." "Alright then, let's get this over," Khizo came out to the balcony of his room and looked down at the people who had gathered to listen to their new King.  "I know you all are angry with me," Khizo began, "And why won't you be? I killed your loved ones and took over the throne. However, I had no other option. The same would have happened to my kingdom if I won't have attacked. I had no interest in killing your men. Their bravery in battle had truly impressed. This is why, the funeral pyre of all the slayed Petukians will be lit alongside the fallen men of Krimigha. Both of them had lost their lives just because of the greed of Davis. "I have heard about Davis' cruelty. But I promise to you all that things will change under my leadership. Be prepared for a new life. A life where you will have value and freedom both. It's time to bring an end to the cruelty you had suffered under the rule of Davis." "Long live, King Khizo!" Triston shouted and the crowd joined him in the chant.
