CHAPTER FIFTEEN

Ethan's POV

The birthday chioma and I planned for patty was successful, we only made plans but we left it for fate for her to be able to come. In class when we were trying to make her feel we forgot her birthday in order to make her really surprised in the night, some girls took advantage of me smiling with them, some were asking if we can hang out, some were caressing me while some played with my hair. It was so annoying and I could feel Patty's eye on me, she was fuming and I could feel the burning flame from her head.

I made up my mind, I can't let my parents encounter with love to affect me, no matter how I try to deny it, what I feel for Patty is definitely love, I love her a lot and I'm going to tell her tonight.

When she came in the room with Chioma and kayla, I was shocked to see kayla with them but when she explained they are on good terms, I calmed. I couldn't take my eyes of patty, I chose the cloth for her, actually I followed Chioma to get the cloth, it was as if it was made perfectly for her. It brought our her shape and her long spotless leg glows, her hair was straight, fluffy and shining. She looked like an Angel that fell from heaven, my heartbeat was fast and I couldn't think straight, all I could think of is how much I love her.

I confessed my love and the party started, she blew the candles and cut the cake, she fed me, chioma and kayla as everyone clapped. The party continued until I noticed she has been standing since she came, I took her to where we shifted the couch, we say and talked for a while until my eyes caught a glimpse of someone.

I saw a girl from humanities department at the party, I saw her a week a go at freedom park, she was walking around with her phone on her ear and after she disappeared, Layla came, now she's here again.

I stood up and told patty I'll be back, I went and I searched everywhere but I didn't see the girl again "maybe it's my imagination" I said to myself and on my way back I remembered I'm yet to give Patty her gift.

I took her to my room where I kept her gift. When I saw her guitar I've always wanted to get her a new one but my stubborn girlfriend won't take a penny from me, I was so happy when she didn't reject the guitar. The happiness that flew around my body made my head float and I kissed her. The way I kissed her the made me want more, before I realise it, we've had s*x and what I discovered when we were having s*x made my shook. She was a virgin.

I didn't regret making love to her, I regretted the fact that I made her do it when she wasn't ready, she didn't turn me down probably because she didn't want me to be disappointed. I could see it on her face that she respects her body a lot and I defiled it.

After I took her home, I went back to prepare for my jamb examination. SSCE Examination starts next week too, this country is really a country that likes too much exams to be able to achieve something.

The basketball tournament day came and Bianca promised to be there, I looked around in the crowd but I didn't see her anywhere, I saw chioma with the cheerleaders and i went to meet her.

"Chichi" I called and she came closer.

"I can't see Patty anywhere" I whispered.

"She said she'd be here, I've been wondering why she isn't here too" she said and I ran my fingers through my hair in frustration, she promised to come watch me play.

Mr Ronald called me, the game is about to start, I kept staring at the entrances.

The game started but I couldn't concentrate, Mr Ronald kept yelling at me after a while, I gave up and decided to concentrate since we are the verge of losing to our opponents.

David made many points and I was about to make my first point when I felt the urge to look at the crowd, I look around and I saw kayla and patty cheering us up, I gave a wide smile. She shot me a kiss which gingered me, the game got wide and its almost over, we made another point and we won. I watched how Patty jumped up happily and did a weird dance with kayla, everything happening now is in slow motion, Mr Ronald hugged all of us and the joy on the face of students in legends high is enough to make ones head swell. The cheerleader did their thing too, today is gonna be a day legends high will never forget. I saw bianca go to the terrace and I followed, she attacked me with a kiss.

"What's that for miss?" I asked

"For your victory of course, I'm so happy, i_"

"And I'm so mad!" I cut in and her smile slowly disappeared.

"Why? You should be happy, you guys just made history" she said and I just stared at her.

"You didn't even watch from the beginning" I said

"Oh_ actually, it was so difficult to get here, we had to wait for my aunt to go out, that's why when I came, I sat at the back to avoid Layla seeing me, I'm sorry" she said. "now show me that dimples of yours" she said with a giggle and I smiled.

"You know Some times I wonder if you are in love with me or my dimples" I said almost in a whisper and she chuckled.

"Both! Dummy" she said and I drew her closer by her waist.

"I lovehate when you call me dummy" I said and she laughed hard.

I made sure she got home before her aunt does, I don't want her to get in trouble with that old lady.

The exam started on Monday and I've been seeing patty in school, we managed not to act lovey dovey in class, even though I feel like cuddling her when I see her. That didn't stop us from making out on the terrace anyway and having s*x in the restroom.

Layla didn't back off either, she kept monitoring everything I do, trying to figure out if patty and I still have anything going.

After a month passed, the SSCE exam is over and our graduation is in month and three weeks time.

We've been dismissed in school, so we have a month and three weeks to have fun before preparing for higher institution.

The break went by fast and it's just a day to graduation day, the valedictory party is in the night after the graduation.

The break would have being so boring and lonely for me if not for kayla that made it possible to be able to see patty.

We were told to come to school a day to the graduation day for a general meeting. After the meeting, layla the bumper, bumped into me again.

"I thought I told you to stop bumping into me Layla" I said as I put my hands in my pocket.

"Well lover boy, I think there's something you need to see " she said and smirked

"What?" I raised a brow as I asked

"Not here! Follow me" she ordered and walked away, I had no choice than to follow her, the way she's smirking means she's up to something. I started feeling uneasy when she walked towards the terrace. When we got there she turned and smirked in a devilish way.

"Why did you bring me here?" I asked

"To show you something, remember?" She said and brought out her phone, she played a video and turned it towards me, when I saw it my heart sank, my breath sized, my head spined. It's a video of Patty and I having s*x.

"News flash, the heir to the Wellington group having s*x with a low life girl" she said and bursts into a shrieking laughter as I stared at her in horror.

"Dumbfounded? The Ethan I know isn't this silent, say something" she teased. The video was taken on Patty's birthday, that means my suspicion is right , the girl at the humanities department has been trailing us, she took the video, it means I really saw her that night, it's not my imagination. The video was taken from the window, she must have seen us go in and she went to the window to peep and she took the video.

"If you won't say something, I will, now listen"she said and I stared at her murderously

"Don't let me see you with Bianca again else I'll leak this video" she said coldly

"You dare not do that!" I said as my blood boiled in fury, I felt like throwing her off the terrace.

"I will Ethan! I will! Leave Bianca and come to me, my door is opened, I'll do whatever you want" she yelled and I scoffed.

"Even though the both of you having been pretending that nothing is going on between you too, I know you guys come to this place" she said in a rush and she stopped to catch her breath.

"You guys come here to do things, you showered her with lot of love and attention, but what do I get? Nothing!"she yelled.

"That's not my fault, it's not my fault I don't love you, Bianca is the only girl in my heart and she's gonna remain there... forever" I said with venom

"Fine let's see! If you don't do as I say Ethan, I'm gonna put your damsel in distress" she threatened

"You can't do that Layla, please... This girl has done nothing wrong, it's me you want right? What do you want me to do?"I asked calmly as my chest burned with anger.

"Great! No more bianca! Is that clear?" She asked and I just stared at her.

"Is that clear Ethan?" She asked sternly

"Ye... Yes"I answered as I stuttered

"If you dare meet her secretly, don't think i won't know, don't play games with me, think of how viral this video with go" she said.

"Okay" I answered as my mind thought of what to do but I can't think of anything, I can't risk this video coming out. I don't care about myself, I care more about Patty, it's going to shatter her.

"We can finally be together" she said seductively and tried to hug me.

"If you dare touch me, I'll strangle you to death, I'll stay away from bianca and you'll stay away from me too, that's the deal" I said and walked away.

I drove home with a aching heart, when I got to my house, I saw David and chioma in their love web, they look good and happy together, when they saw me, the greeted and I nodded as I went into my room, I sat and thought of what to do.

It seems the more I stay with patty, the more I give her pain, I can't handle seeing her and not be able to talk to her or touch her. And I don't want her to feel hurt seeing me stay away from her. I couldn't sleep through out the night, I kept rolling on my bed, I can't let this video get leaked, I can't handle any other person see her that way, she'll be hurt and shattered, if my stay here will hurt her, I better leave even though this choice will hurt me more.

In the morning, I sat on my bed and kept thinking of alternatives but there's none, the only choice I have is to leave.

I stood up and got dressed for the party, I wore the tuxedo my mom sent from new York as my graduation gift since she can't make it, I went into my car and drove to the airport. I booked a ticket and my flight was schedule for tomorrow morning. When I got to school, the party has started and I saw patty.

She looks like an angel, she wore a sky blue dress. She smiled when she saw me and I smiled too. I walked closer to her and I embraced her for a long time, it took me a while to let her go and she asked

"Missed me?" She asked thinking that's why I embraced her for a long time.

"Yeah" I said and she pecked me

Let's take a picture together" she said she called David and chioma and we all took a picture together. We both took a picture separately too.

"We were all given our certificate and testimonial and the party ended, students went home to prepare for the valedictory party and I packed my bags.

I'm going to see Bianca for the last time tonight, if I tell David or any one about this, they will discourage and want to think of a plan. But I can't risk it, determination to ruin Bianca life is all I can see in Layla, if the price I have to pay is to leave, I will.

I wore a shirt with a jean and a pair of sneakers. My heart ached again as I remembered what I am about to do.

I packed all my things and left them in the boot. I drove to school and I parked, I put my head on the steering as I cried. I cried uncontrollably and hit the steering  making the horn blare. I wiped my face and cooled down before getting out of the car.

I entered the hall the party is holding, the light is dim and cozy, the teachers are standing behind in their party dress, monitoring the students I guess, I saw principal Williams and I explained to him that I'm leaving and he bade me goodbye.

I looked for David and I saw him sitting with Chioma, kayla, dewunmi and patty. She seems to be looking for me because she was looking around.

I walked closer to her and she hugged me.

"I've been looking around for you, do you know how hard it was for me to be able to get here?" She asked in a upset baby voice.

"I'm sorry babe" I answered as I caressed her cheek.

It's fine, let's dance" she said and I saw layla glaring at me and I declined Patty's request.

"I'm tired patty, why don't you just sit?"

"Okay" She shrugged and sat.

"I looked towards Layla's side again and she mouthed "see me outside" she went and I followed after telling Patty "I'll be right back".

I met her outside and she faced me.

"When I said I'll leak the video if you go near her, you thought I was bluffing?" She yelled

"No, I know you were not bluffing, devils in human clothing don't bluff, this will be the last time I'll be seeing her anyways, so cool your temper" I shot at her with venom.

"You don't talk to me that way Ethan, I have your balls held captive" she warned.

"I'm sorry ma'am" I apologised sarcastically.

"You'll soon realise I'm doing this for us" she said seductively.

"You are doing this for yourself and you are ruining my happiness" I said in an upset tone.

"Okay! okay! I can't have you, I can't force you to be with me but bianca won't have you either!" She shot at me.

"Good for you, just give us this night and I promise I'll never go near her again !" I pleaded

"Okay, just few minutes" she said and walked away. I stared at her as she swayed her hips seductively until she's out of sight.

I entered and I saw patty sitting, she looked dull and unhappy, her face brightened when she saw me. I held her hand and took her to the terrace.

"Do you know you've been acting weird since morning?" She asked worriedly. "Is something wrong? Did I do something wrong?"

"I'm fine Patty and no, you've done nothing to upset me" I said as I held her waist pulling her close to me and she hung her hand around my neck.

"You don't look happy, you look serious and upset, Ethan, tell me, did I do something wrong?"she asked again.

"No, it's just mood swing, I'll be okay" I lied and she looked away.

"Partner" I called and she answered.

"I'll miss you" I said as I embraced her tight.

She smiled and said "don't worry kayla will always help me sneak out and see you"

"Always remember I love you a lot"I said again

"I know that" she answered and patted my back.

"You are a special person in my heart, always remember that" I said as tears streamed down my face but she can't see it because we are locked in a embrace

"Now you are acting like a professional weirdo, did you drink something Ethan?" She asked as she tried to pull away but I held her still.

"Let's stay still for a while" I said and she obeyed and she held my waist tighter.

"You are scared Ethan, your heart is beating fast" she said and I wiped my tears, I can't make her suspicious. I pulled away and wore a bright smile and she smiled too.

"I still feel mesmerized when i see you, I can't stop my mouth from ranting" I said with a cheerful smile even though my heart is bleeding.

She blushed and adjusted my shirt "really?" She asked.

"Yeah, really" I answered. "I love you Bianca" I said

"I love you more" she replied and I kissed her. I took her back to the party and chioma took her to the dance floor. I looked at her for the last time and left without looking back.
