When Yarrow and Harding walked into the interview room they could see why Penny Leatherbarrow had misgivings about the man’s claim to be the dead girl sister. For as they entered, a tall black man got to his feet. He sported a short beard, wore a bright red open-necked shirt and a dark grey suit which hung baggily about his shoulders, a clear indication that it was not his normal attire. ‘Good morning, sir,’ Yarrow said, holding out his hand which the man nervously took in his own. ‘I’m Detective Inspector Christopher Yarrow and this is Detective Sergeant Marcus Harding, I understand you have some information about…’ he was about to say ‘the dead girl’ but realised that it would sound harsh and unfeeling if the man truly was her brother, ‘about…the appeal in the Gazette for information.’
