Chapter 6 — Morning After
Warm sunlight spilled across black silk sheets while Clara slowly opened her eyes.
For a few seconds, she forgot where she was.
Then memories from the night before crashed into her all at once.
The club.
The dancing.
His hands.
His mouth against hers.
Her cheeks burned instantly.
Clara turned toward the other side of the bed—
Empty.
The stranger was gone.
Only his expensive silver watch rested beside the nightstand.
Her stomach tightened unexpectedly.
No goodbye.
No note.
Nothing.
Before she could think too deeply about it, her phone rang aggressively.
Lily.
“WHERE ARE YOU?!” Lily screamed the second Clara answered.
Clara winced. “Good morning to you too.”
“You disappeared with a hot stranger and never came back! I almost filed a missing person report!”
Clara buried her face into the pillow. “I’m alive.”
“Oh my God,” Lily gasped dramatically. “You slept with him.”
Clara stayed silent.
Lily screamed louder.
Before Clara could defend herself, Lily continued: “Forget that—today is our FIRST day at Beaumont Enterprises!”
Clara’s eyes widened instantly.
Oh no.
this is a disaster, how will I get out of this situation??
