Chapter 7- The CEO

269 Words
Chapter 7 — The CEO The Beaumont Enterprises lobby somehow looked even more intimidating during daylight. Interns stood nervously near the elevators while employees rushed through the building carrying contracts and coffee. Lily adjusted her skirt anxiously. “If I embarrass myself today, tell my family I died beautiful.” “You say that every five minutes.” “Because I’m terrified every five minutes.” Clara laughed softly despite her nerves. A tall woman in heels approached the interns confidently. “Good morning. I’m Vanessa Reed, head manager of the internship program.” Immediately everyone straightened. Vanessa’s sharp eyes scanned the room coldly. “Only a few of you will become full-time employees here. Beaumont Enterprises does not reward laziness, distractions, or incompetence.” Several interns already looked ready to faint. Vanessa guided them toward the executive floor. “The CEO’s assistant will brief you before work begins.” The doors opened. A tall man wearing glasses stood reviewing documents. Sharp suit. Professional expression. Cold posture. “This is Adrian Cole,” Vanessa announced. “Mr. Beaumont’s executive assistant.” Adrian nodded once. “Take your seats.” The room quieted immediately. Then suddenly— the meeting room doors opened again. And Clara froze. Him. The stranger from Velvet Room. The man she spent the night with. He walked inside wearing a black tailored suit that screamed wealth and authority. Cold. Untouchable. Powerful. Everyone immediately stood. “Good morning, Mr. Beaumont.” Clara’s heartbeat stopped. Jace Beaumont. The billionaire CEO. And somehow… he looked even more dangerous in daylight. His eyes landed on Clara instantly. And stayed there.
