“Hey b***h!” A text message from an annoying guy popped up on my screen.
“What do you want?” I responded quickly. Knowing this guy, his name is James, he’s such a trouble maker and only really contacts me when he’s in deep s**t.
“I’m kind of in a situation, mind coming to pick me up at the police station? Pretend to be my older sister, alright?” James texted back quickly and my eyes widened.
Why on earth was he being detained by the police now?!
I headed there as soon as possible and they greeted me.
“I’m his elder sister.” I lied of course, James and I have no blood relation and our families don’t even know each other. The reason him and I are here… or more so why I’m here is because I can’t get rid of this guy…
“Sis! I’m so greatful you came to pick me up and-ught! What was that for?!” James scowled at me as I pulled at his ear.
“Didn’t I tell you to stay out of trouble!?” I yelled, it made it more convincing for the police if I am not too kind to him. “I was just going to go to bed and you call me out here? I should have just left you here until tomorrow!” I continued, my over exaggerated act seemed to be really effective as the police officer that detained him came up to me.
“His charges aren’t serious, however we had to take him in because he didn’t have a valid form of ID while trying to get into a night club a few blocks up.” The police officer explained. “It’s a misdemeanor at best but it doesn’t hurt to be safe.”
“Did you hear that?” I turn back to James. “Always carry your ID on you at all times!” I said as I tugged at his ear harshly once more.
“Ugh! Enough, I get it! It was a mistake and-” James stuffed his hands in his pockets annoyed but then brought out what looked like his ID card from his back pocket. “Ha… so silly, turns out I had it on me all this time…” He chuckled and shrugged.
“…….” Both me and the police officer stood there with similar expressions of disbelief.
James… this guy… I’m surely going to teach him a lesion one of these days!
As we headed out the station after many apologies, James seemed to be in the same chipper mood as before.
“Damn you really are a good actress. If I hadn’t figured out it was fake, I would have totally believed you were disappointed in me.” James said as he held my hand. He was only two years younger than me, so in a sense I did have to act like his elder sister.
“I am disappointed, I can’t be constantly called to save your ass. You’re 16 already, be more mature, will you?” I asked him with a completely serious expression.
“Sure…” James said as he pulled me in and kissed me on the mouth, it was a light peck. “Thanks for saving me again!” He said and I pulled back, letting go of his hand as I vigorously wiped my mouth.
“Disgusting, why would you kiss me?!” I yelled glaring at him.
“Eh? You just looked really cute is all.” James smiled happily.
This wasn’t the first time he pulled a trick like that, and I’m regretful I wasn’t fast enough to stop him as I usually am. But I guess I’m still out of it because of Edward’s confession.
“I’ll go back now! See you at school!” Without much more deliberation James took off and ran towards his bike he’d parked up the street, I could see it from where I was standing.
“What a waste of a night…” I sighed to myself as I stared down at my phone, it was past midnight already. Good thing the police station is close to home…
Chapter 3: Where’s The Happy Ever After?
***
The next day I was woken up by the sound of my alarm, and I panicked as I was already late for my first lecture. I hastily put on the clothes I could find, preferably ones that weren’t dirty as I hadn’t had the time to do laundry in a week.
I headed out the door with make up in hand, my keys in one hand and my school back pack over a single shoulder. The shoelaces of my shoes were stuffed into the side of my shoe as I didn’t have time to tie them. Then I ran to catch the bus that ended up leaving without me.
Just my luck… if I wait another 30 minutes for the next one I will be over an hour late by the time I get there…
Then I heard a honking…
Beep, beep! “Your ride has arrived, my lady!” Ever so arrogantly I was called on by one annoying guy. It was no secret he was a skirt chaser. And it wasn’t that he wanted me specifically, rather he would try and make a move on anything that so much as moved.
“Ugh… whatever…” I cursed under my breath but got into his car anyways. I couldn’t really afford to be picky given how late I am. Unsurprisingly inside his car were three other girls that all seemed to be swooning over him.
“You’re late, that’s unusual.” He remarked as he pointed to my seat belt, then tried to tighten it but I did it instead.
“Yeah, I overslept…” I said while looking forward. Steven looked amused.
“And since when do you oversleep?” Steven asked as he pulled me in, his car engine still running, we were still in the middle of the street as he was parked there. There was a guy honking behind us, telling him to move.
“I was tired, alright? Can you just drive… I don’t want to be late.” At my words the girls in the back seat were annoyed and started talking amongst themselves.
This really is a horrible day, isn’t it?
After finally getting to the school, I turned to tell Steven I was thankful for him driving me but then one of the girls started making out with him and I quickly left the car.
I didn’t want to have to witness that so early in the morning…
Going to class was normal except why was the new guy with silver hair sitting at my seat?!
“Excuse me… that’s my assigned seat.” I told him with as calm of a voice as I could muster in the current stressful situation I was in.
“I don’t see your name on it.” He replied without batting an eye.
I gripped my bag that hung on my shoulder and smiled. “Even so it is my seat, so move it.” I told him through gritted teeth.
The silver haired guy looked up at me and then moved only one seat over and I managed to sit down. “The seat next to me is actually taken by my friend Edward.” I told him.
“I don’t care.” The silver haired guy said as he stared forward, the lecture began but it was weird, Edward wasn’t at school for some reason.
Later as I headed to the cafeteria the silver haired guy followed after me like a puppy.
“Do you need something?” I asked him while raising an eyebrow.
“You smell sweet.” He told me in that kind of disgusting manner.
Why were all men perverts?!
“Go away.” I told him sternly but he continued following me around. We ate lunch together, but I didn’t speak to him at all. Somehow I’d rather eat in the bathroom than share my space with him but I decided it was only going to be this once that I pay attention to him.
Because a voice in me… kind of reminded me how I was at my first day in a new school.
“Do you want me to show you around?” I ever so graciously suggested while looking up at him. This guy was unbelievably tall for someone the same age as me.
“No. I already know where everything is.” The silver haired guy replied without a moment’s notice.
“Isn’t it your first day?” I asked while looking at him confused.
“No.” He replied almost instantly once more. His straightforwardness is quite rude and I’m not used to people speaking that way to me but I ignored it.
“You, really smell sweet.” He said as he leaned over and basically pushed his nose against my shoulder.
“Hey there buddy back away or I will kick you!” I stepped back and glared at him. “You can’t just do that, alright? You creep.” I told him even more sternly than before.
“Why not?” He tilted his head as if he couldn’t understand me.
“Isn’t it obvious, because it’s weird!” I replied, though it felt like I was speaking to a kid or a dog that didn’t understand right from wrong.
The rest of the day he continued to follow me around even as I headed home. But then something even stranger happened…
“Hey mutt.” Another guy, compared to the silver haired one, he had pitch black hair that seemed almost unnatural against his pale skin. “How come you’re hanging around this one?” He asked while snorting at my direction.
What am I? A part of some off brand romance? Are these two fighting over me?
If I were to be in a romance book I’d rather have the billionaire troupe, that way I’d at least get some money out of it.
“She’s my mate.” The silver haired guy spoke with a low growl.
Wait… a growl? What is he some kind of dog? Maybe Maya’s theory on him being that Omega thing is actually real?
“Is that so? Then I guess I’ll have to take her from you.” The black haired guy said as he pulled me by the hand. Then the silver haired one did the same with my other hand.
They were basically playing tug of war with me as the rope and the prize at the same time.
“You’re both f*****g stupid.” I simply remarked as I pulled my arms away from both of them and headed on my way back home. Thankfully both silver haired and black haired guy were now fighting amongst themselves and weren’t bothering me.
Along the way back, I saw Maya again in the library. We used it as a sort of check point, we always met there after classess, since she had different ones than me.
“Did you hear?! There’s this girl that the Silver Alpha is walking around all day! Isn’t it amazing!?” Maya’s enthusiasm always put me in a good mood, if nothing else but because she was positive.
“Yeah, he was dragging his feet behind me all day.” I told her earnestly. I didn’t want to hide it from her since she’d be very angry if I did.
“So… is he really a ware wolf?!” Maya looked at me with her eyes gleaming.
“How should I know? And… maybe?” I gave a half hearted answer.
“Omg… think about it, what if you’re his destined omega, or his Luna even!? What will happen then if you have to bear his child so that his bloodline doesn’t die out?!” Maya asked me with such ferocious seriousness that I struggled to reply at first, until she got to the part about babies that disgusted me truly.
“No way, I’d rather jump off the top of the school building.” I told her in a completely monotone voice, so that there’s absolutely no room for misunderstanding.
“And.. then you might get reborn into another world! Imagine that!” Maya continued with her delusions. Seeing that I am unable to win against her I opted to just leave after listening to her for just a bit more.
“Look, take this home.” Maya said as she handed me a small pink taser, it didn’t seem like it would provide too big of a shock no matter who I used it on.
“Why do I need that?” I asked her in all seriousness.
“I heard there have been girls attacked at night recently, and they each get some blood extracted, the news said everyone in this distinct should be very careful.” Maya told me, how did she always have these super serious topics to discuss just minutes before I leave?!
I took the taser and stashed it in my left pocket of my jacket and headed out. It was already dark outside as expected. I probably shouldn’t have helped Maya out again, now I have to head back alone and… wait maybe I should visit Edward.
After all he wasn’t at school today, so he might be sick… no there’s no way he was fine yesterday. More likely he doesn’t want to see me because of the confession from last night… but then…
“Help!” I saw a girl struggling and yelling, there were few other people on the street so I ran towards her, but what I saw when I got there was horrifying, Edward was slouched over and his vampire like teeth were against this girl’s neck.
He paused when he saw me.
“Are you… insane?!” I screamed at Edward who looked like I’d hurt his pride. He struggled and stuttered but couldn’t say a single word to me, his grip on the girl that seemed to be around our age lessened and she ran away. Leaving me and Edward standing face to face on this empty street.
“I didn’t think you do this in your free time.” I glared down at him but he slowly stood up and gulped down his saliva.
“I…” Edward didn’t look like the man I know, in fact he was so odd… almost like he was in a trance, he slowly approached me and then finally grabbed my arm. He stared into my eyes with his mouth agape and saliva dripping down his face, a droplet fell onto my extended hand. I tried to pull back but he held me all the more tightly.
“Ugh… it’s…” Edward continued to try and speak.
Is this one of those things about vampires that they become very hungry? Was he trying to drink that girl’s blood because he lost himself?
I was just contemplating on what to do.
If I was a heroine in a story about vampires, I’d probably suggest my friend drink only my own blood… however… I am quite anemic so that’s impossible. I already have low iron, if I were to give him some of my blood, even the smallest drop, I’d probably have to go to the emergency room.
So what should I do…
“Hey you! Vampire boy, let go of the girl!” Before I knew what was happening a voice called out then a fight started. This new person that stepped in was wearing a strange costume, with boots and a hat like a cowboy but dressed all in black. As he fought with Edward who looked like an unhinged beast at that moment, I sort of zoned out…
All of this was happening all at once and then…
BOOM!
A loud crash was heard right behind me, out of the car that crashed was James who looked completely uninjured. “Both of you end this now.” He commanded in the strangest way as both the cowboy looking man and Edward seemed to listen to him.
The 16 year old boy that I knew at that moment looked somehow older… why was he so condescending suddenly and what’s more… why did these guys listen to him!?
Please someone tell me this is a bad dream… I pinched my hand and unfortunately I was wide awake and all of this was still happening ever so vividly in front of my eyes…
