ALEX Seth walked into my office, a stack of neatly arranged files in his hands. Without a word at first, he placed them on the table in front of me. “We’ve gathered the reports on the companies you asked us to investigate,” he said finally. “There was no fire outbreak, and none of the key members of the company took sick leave during that period.” His words confirmed my suspicions. My instincts had already been whispering that Caleb might be involved, but a part of me had been stubbornly holding on to the hope that I was wrong, at least for his sake.
