9 The day after their dinner at the diner, David had gone out and gotten Chloe a new cell phone. Hers was broken beyond repair and was out of data. She’d tried to decline it, but he’d insisted, and she spent an hour setting it up. While she had been doing that, she hadn’t noticed the tablet that he’d bought Sadie and had set up for her. “We might travel or something,” was his defense. “The odds of that are so slim.
