The teardrops that slid down her cheeks were like drops of acid to my heart; melting and burning my insides. I should have done a better job of protecting my mate. My knees buckled and I dropped to my knees. Taking her hands in mine, I spoke in a voice that came out as raspy, “Luro…. Won’t you give me a chance to explain?”
She raised her head to reveal her tear-stained face. My heart clenched and the air left my lung; suffocating me. I was filled with an intense desire to wipe away her sorrow but I didn’t know how.
