Chapter 7

839 Words
Diana POV Dragging my mate (and squealing at the word "mate" on the inside) upstairs to my room, I'm looking forward to taking off my make-up and putting on some more comfortable clothes. I send him into the bathroom to freshen off after our frolick in the village. For myself, I pick out a more comfortable, yet stylish outfit. I pair some jeans with a black tank top and a long white blouse. I finish the outfit with some black Vans. While I wait for the bathroom to be free, I undress and slip on a comfortable sweater and ask one of the omega's to bring some fresh clothes in for Joshua. I pick up one of the books on my bedside table and read a while.  After about 20 minutes, the bathroom door opens and Joshua comes walking out in nothing but a towel. Holy goddess, I bless my lucky stars as I gawk at his sculpted abs and shoulders. "Like what you see?" He grins.  I don't answer, but turn away with a red face and shake my head yes. What is wrong with me? Look your mate in the eye, Diana, you can do it. I look up, but hadn't realized he'd come right up to me, so his eyes are but a few cm away from mine.  "It's all yours, you know." He says.  At that moment, the omega I sent earlier comes back into the room with a fresh change of clothes. He's carrying a black shirt and some light jeans with a dark green tartan blouse to cover the shirt. I hand them to Joshua with a wink and walk past him into the bathroom. I take off my make-up and jump in the shower. I don't think my hair needs another deep cleanse, so I just rinse it and wash the sweat off my body with some almond scented body wash. I nurture my skin with a moisturizing cream and think back to the nap I took on Joshua's lap earlier. It's the best I'd slept in, well, forever actually. I should do that again soon. After I'm all done, I walk back into the room in my towel and collect my clothes. I'd forgotten to take them into the bathroom and I kind of need them if I want to go anywhere outside of my room. I see that Joshua is fast asleep, cuddling my pillow. Dinner is still a little while away, so instead of my neatly laid out outfit, I set an alarm, put on my sweater and crawl into bed. Instinctively, he puts his arm around me and I cuddle close to him. His scent instantly calms me and I fall asleep.  We are awakened quite rudely by my alarm clock about half an hour later. I place a kiss on his nose and he smiles at me cutely. We get dressed properly and head downstairs for dinner. The remaining alpha's and their mates are already waiting for us when we head downstairs. Alpha Jake is giving me the stink eye from across the table, though his glances towards Joshua are downright aggressive. Territorial i***t, I think to myself as I sit down next to my new beloved. Dinner is presented and it's the wild game Katie and I caught earlier. King Dorian announces this proudly of course, saying that the food on this table was caught by none other than his daughter and her future beta. We say grace and dig in. The conversation during dinner is pleasant, with various people coming up to us to congratulate us on our match, saying they're glad for such a strong alliance at the head of our territory. Some of the pack members stopped by for the sole reason of meeting my new mate. It's nice, although I did find myself growling at some of the unmated females. Guess I'm a bit of a territorial i***t too. Oh well, what are you going to do? To be fair, they did try to come on to my mate and shot me dirty looks, so I'd say it's justified. One of them in particular, Rebecca, nearly pushed me aside to introduce herself to my Joshua, giggling and flirting with him as she did. I had to restrain myself from ripping her head off. When she tried to sit down on her lap, Joshua luckily pushed her away and asked Daniel to take her outside and away from him. He clearly didn't feel like dealing with her, which put my mind at ease.  After dinner, me and Josh went back upstairs to watch a movie. We watched 'The Corpse Bride', what a brilliant movie. For some reason, my love could nearly fully quote the movie and when I asked him about it said that he had to have seen it at least 20 times. It was one of his favourites. All the while chatting and watching the movie, we slowly dozed off in my bed. Though my dreams would haunt me that night.
