Justin Watching Marissa leave the office in such a hurry left me numb. My shoulders drooped, and a stillness spread through me as if I were disconnecting from my own thoughts. I blamed myself and kept asking why I had opened my damn mouth to tell her the truth. I had lowered my worth to someone I had feelings for. Someone I was falling in love with. Now she was going to see me as something twisted and cursed, which, in truth, I was. Living a lie. Hiding behind a façade that I was a strong, destined future king.
