Chapter 5

“I can't believe we are taking the same program, Athena!” It has been half an hour of Jensen's nonstop talks and all I did is ignore her.

“By the way, why did you decided to transfer?” she asked for the fifth time. Good thing that I could already see our department's building. I can finally get rid of this noisy human being. I walked as fast as I could and finally saw my section's lecture room. Jensen screamed excitedly and jumped happily.

“We are really destined for each other, Athena! We belong to the same section!” she happily exclaimed. Now I think I have to transfer to another school in order to get rid of this crazy and noisy human being.

I went inside and sat in front because sitting at the back means seeing all the human beings in front of me. Jensen immediately sat beside me. Why can she stop being so annoying?

“I can’t wait to introduce you to Lian. I am sure that you would like her!” she exclaimed happily. I don’t even like her existence how could I like another annoying human being?

“Could you please stop talking?” I demanded. I still have to discover a lot of things and this girl is making it hard for me to focus.

“Jensen!” here goes another annoying human being. I looked angrily at the new girl running towards Jensen. Her face is familiar but I don't have time to remember where I saw her. Why can't I have a peaceful stay in this world? Can someone give me considerations for being locked up inside a laboratory for 20 years?

"I miss you!" she screamed on top of her lungs

"Lian, I miss you too!" Jensen responded while hugging her. I closed my eyes in frustration.

“By the way Lian, I want you to meet Athena. She's the one who helped me from that pervert.” Jensen said while pointing at me.

"I know her already. Remember the grumpy new girl in our village that I was telling you? She is that girl!” Lian said. Did she just call me grumpy? I decided to look at the whiteboard while waiting for our instructor.

“Good morning, Athena. I am Sir Arthur and welcome to Mreine,” I knew this man. He was my biology instructor when I was five years old. He even said welcome to Mreine in such a sarcastic tone.

“Please welcome Miss Athena Clarke in your class. Remember to be nice to her at all cost,” he said to the class.

“Anything to say, Miss Athena?” he said while smiling. I stood up and faced these disgusting human beings.

“Don’t dare to get near me,” I simply said which made them shocked. I hope they would do everything to avoid me.

“Whoa, isn't she so nice?” Sir Arthur said and started his discussion. I had been studying his subject, Microbiology, since I was six. I tried to act interested for the whole hour of discussion.

I looked at the back when I felt a strange aura around me. I saw a man staring at me intently. He didn't even bother looking away when my eyes met his. He even smirked devilishly.

“Mr. Dwight, please look in front,” Sir Arthur said while looking at the man. He answered him with a mysterious smile and looked at me again. What is wrong with this human? I diverted my attention back to Sir Arthur's discussion.

“Let’s eat, Athena. Come with us,” Jensen offered. I walked straight out of the room and completely ignored her.

“Athena,” I stopped when I heard my name from a dark cold voice.

“Who are you?” I asked the man who was staring at me in class.

“I want to talk to you privately.” He said. If darkness would have its physical form, it would probably in the form of this man.

He walked forward so I followed him. After minutes of walking, I found myself in a serene place, away from all the people. This place is surrounded with trees and it feels comfortable.

“Why did you decide to leave Mreine?” I was surprised when he mentioned Mreine. I certainly don’t know this person but I think he knew who I am.

“Why would I answer that?” I coldly replied.

“What a nasty attitude. Is this how Mreine turned you into, Iris?” he even knows what I was used to be called.

“What did you expect me to be, then? I don’t even know why I am talking to a human like you.” I said and decided to leave. If he is merely one of Mreine's staffs, I shouldn’t waste my time on him.

“Have you discovered your dexterities?” I stopped when he asked that. I guess he is not one of Mreine's low level staffs. If he knows something about dexterities then maybe he could help me.

“How did you know I have one?” I asked facing him. He smirked at me and walked towards me.

“So you think you are the only one who has it?” he looked at me with disgust.

“You also have a dexterity?” I thought I am the only one who is different from humans. I think there are other people who possess these special abilities.

“What is it then?” I curiously asked. I can't believe it!

"Why would I show you my dexterity, Athena?” he answered arrogantly. This person has the guts to talk back to me.

“To be honest, all I want is to kill you. However, I am not in the place to do that. I wish I could be him at this moment. It would surely be satisfying to see you suffering.” He said while looking at me coldly.

“If you could,”

“Don’t underestimate me. Just be grateful that I am not destined to do so. Be thankful that the book didn’t choose me.” Which book is he referring to? Oh, another puzzle to solve.

“What are you talking about?”

“I guess Mreine didn’t even mention the book to you.  I really pity you. You don’t even know that your whole life story and future is written in a book,” he said which shocked me. How could there be a book where my future is written?

“Who wrote that book?” I asked in confusion.

“No one knows. But I guess the one who'll kill you wrote that. How amazing, isn’t it?” he said playfully.

“Who would be the one to kill me?”

“I got to go,” he said and moved forward. How dare him!

“By the way, I am Dwight. If you want to know my dexterity, wait for a few days.” And with that he left.

They said that the man I'll love will kill me. I can't believe he even wrote a book for me! If I could stop myself from falling in love, then that means that I won’t get killed. And if he is the author of that book, that means he knows everything about me. He already planned how we would meet and how he would make me fall for him. He already planned how he would kill me.

I guess I should prioritize the book and its author first. Once I find the book and prevent that man from getting rid of me, I would begin discovering who I really am.

I was about to go back to class when I saw I man standing behind the trees. I couldn’t recognize his face because of the leaves in front of it but I could clearly saw how he smiled devilishly and disappeared. I didn’t mind him and went back to my next class. I saw Dwight and he just looked at me like nothing happened. He is plain cold and arrogant.

I ignored Jensen and Lian every time they try to talk to me. My system is not ready for their senseless questions. I walked as fast as I could to avoid the two of them when the class ended.

I opened our house's gate and straightly went to open the door. I heard an advertisement playing from the television. I guess Ion is already home.

Someone's POV

I saw Dwight and Iris. Just like how it is written, they really met at the same exact time and place. The book never failed even with the smallest details. With Dwight’s revelations, I know she would begin finding the book and its author. If she thinks that it would be easy, then she should think again. She couldn’t even discover all her dexterities. What a weak creature. I can't wait for her death.

I decided to skip my classes and went straight home. I have to plan for my next steps.

I opened the television and sat down. After an hour, I heard the gates opening. She must be here already. The door opened and she uninterestedly looked at the television.

“Are you done with classes?”
