Fury

A New Lead

Jed POV~

Morning rays of light filtered through the curtains and pulled me from my shitty sleep. I groaned and rubbed at my eyes, I felt as if I had sand in them. I took a few breaths and sat up, the hotel where we were staying was barely a 3 star. 

I could afford better, but I wanted to keep as low a profile as possible. I was known almost everywhere now being king, it became hard to blend in. Swinging my long legs over the rickety mattress I moved to the bathroom to get ready for the day.

Last night Ben came back late but informed me that the agent had agreed to help us. I was relieved but immediately angered as he proceeded to tell me what all she had requested. I wasn't stupid by any means and I understood that I may need to be prepared for the worst. 

I just didn't expect it to be this soon, before she even started in helping me search. I growled trying to control myself from shredding this pathetic place. I am restless the more the days pass without any new leads the more I fall deeper into myself. The beast within me comes closer to the surface as well, I dare say if Emilynn is dead I will loose control. 

"Jed you up?" Ben's voice floats through the door. I sighed splashing my face with water and cracked open the door to his blinding smile. His black curls covered part of his face and his beard was full and thick now. Eyes as blue as the deep ocean and he 6'3 height caught attention. Like moths to the flame, women would wink, smile and flirt their way into his bed. 

I was really surprised as to how many he had turned down. Ben was by a females standard the perfect male specimen. I myself like to think we balance out each others looks, although I do feel weird judging a guy. After shrugging on my blazer and slacks, we locked up and headed to town. 

"So I think you should sit this one out bud. I mean we already started down the road of me posing as you. She seemed to be very cautious anyway and observant. If she finds out that we are lying it could send us back to square one." Ben shook his head as we rode to the crow flies coffee shop for liquid strength. 

'He does have a point, but we need to go and maybe just stay silent.' Fury sighed out in my mind. 

I only hummed my approval towards him. We stayed silent for the rest of the drive lost in our own thoughts. I knew Ben was missing her almost as much as myself, he and his beast accepted her as a life-mate. Even if she had refused his advances the bond itself had already formed even if it was one sided. 

The door chimed as I opened it to take my place in line. The modern styled wood and black theme greeted me. I took a deep breath in letting the thick coffee smell invade my senses. I was intrigued as a sweeter honey smell swirled within the scents. 

I knew I hadn't smelled the scent the last time I was here and wondered if it was a new flavor of coffee. If it was I wanted it, even fury purred in approval of the smell. The same tiny blonde from yesterday beamed at me as I walked up to the counter. She flipped her ponytail to the side exposing her neck as she smiled seductively. 

I held in my inner snarl at her display and cleared my throat "Do you have a flavor of the week? A Honey perhaps?" 

She licked her lips "No sir we only have the common flavors like hazelnut or French vanilla. If you would like I can have my manager order something like that. How long will you be in town?"

I sighed as fury growled inwardly "No thank you, just the usual Dark roast with no sugar and a hint of French vanilla creamer." 

"Is there anything more I can get for you? I actually get off in 2 hours if you would like I can show you around town?" I rolled my eyes at her blatant show of desperation. The lady in line behind me scoffed as the girl glared. 

"Thanks but I won't be here much longer. Can I get my coffee now?" I tried to keep the bite from my voice but she winced at my rejection. Lets face it no-one likes to be shut down. 

She mumbled a 'yes sir' and took my card for payment. I half expected another pick up line but was surprised when she only handed me the cup and keep her eyes downcast. Turning around to head out of the café and back to the car, I took one last whiff of the smell. 

I wasn't aware of my surrounding while I was lost in the smell. I felt a jolt and immediately grabbed at my nose, the bell from the door wringing loudly. I was more embarrassed than hurt but it quickly disappeared when my eyes met the most gorgeous shade of green. 

Her Honey blonde hair curled around her shoulders and framed her face, my eyes traveled down to her neck then lower. I studied her figure and was pleased to see she was a full of curves that disappeared behind her dark blue dress. 

I could feel the heat from her blushing, the cream smoothness of her skin reminded me of my coffee. I suddenly wanted to drink her and my cup became a hinderance form my hands wrapping around her. 

"Excuse me, I didn't mean to shut the door so hard." Her voice sounded like a caramel drizzle over whipped cream and my insides started to summersault. I shook my head, what the hell was wrong with me. This was an unnatural attraction and my brain screamed dangerous. My body however screamed to intertwine with hers. 

"Sir, are you hurt?" She asked again and I swallowed loudly. 

'If we say we are do you think she would hold us?' Fury seemed just as dazed as I was. 

" There's no blood so I think you will recover just fine. Have a nice day sir." I hadn't realized I still didn't speak to her as she disappeared down the street. Her heels clicking on the pavement as she walked away from me. My body still hadn't caught up to my minds thoughts before I felt a shake against my arm. 

"Dude, are you alright?" Ben was shaking me and staring at me with his eyebrows scrunched together. I looked around the busy street to see her gone, I shook my head again but didn't answer him as I turned to the awaiting car. My mind was a mess and I had no idea where to begin sorting the thoughts. 

One thing was for sure and that was I wanted to see her again, once was not enough. That one clear thought had me wanting to run screaming for my life. I wasn't the type to chase a female but my whole body seemed to disagree. I felt myself still at those thoughts.

"Jed, man you look like your somewhere between shitting yourself and severe constipation. Do we need to go back to the hotel so you can figure out which it is." Ben didn't waste his time in laughing at me. I huffed at him and shook my head. 

"Ben sometimes you need to just shut up." I put my head in my hands and rested that way as the car kept moving closer to the office for our meeting. Ben shrugged but didn't say anything more. 

I needed to clear my head and focus, Emylnn was counting on me and I couldn't let anything stand in my way.
