Change My Mind

1576 Words
The b***h hung up on me. The thoughts swirled and I crushed my phone in my hand. The glass and plastic biting skin causing me to flinch. Well s**t I thought, What now. I used my mind to reach out to Ben " I need a new phone." I grumbled. He laughed and it danced through my senses and caused a scowl on my face. Only a select few could laugh at my expense and not receive a fist to the face. " Ben now is not the time" I growled back.  "Yes sir boss man I'll get one now, where are you so I can bring it to you." realizing my seriousness, he relented the child's play.  "South circle on Metro at the coffee shop." I looked up to read the name. "As the Crow Flies." I shook my head at the ridiculous name and pushed further. "Hurry up, I need to find Taylmia." The humor in his voice only irked me more. " Aye Aye captain, ill sail your way shortly. Should I bring the Rum--"  I cut the link in order to save myself from punching him when he finally arrived. I couldn't endure anymore of his pirate humor. I didn't understand him most of the time, to find laughter in everything. Maybe that's why we got along so well, he was my laughter since I never did. I couldn't remember my laugh it had been so long without Emilynn.  My beast stirred at the thought of that Agent hanging up. She was infuriating already and I haven't even met her, but I knew I needed her help. I couldn't find my sister on my own and the longer Emilynn was missing the further it would be for us to bring her home. Time was running out and it was killing me from the inside out.  Lost in my thoughts I found my coffee now cold and the blood with phone particles dried in my hand. I cursed under my breath and found the nearest waste-bin to throw it away. I then proceeded to a restroom to clean my hands then to get another coffee. I needed caffeine to deal with her and Ben together I could already tell. I finished quickly and stood in line again, the cashier recognized me immediately and before I could utter my order she was running to make a new cup. I gave her a small smile and she beamed one back that turned flirty to quick for me to ignore. How weird are these mortals to receive such small gratitude as a smile and want to take it further. I nodded to her and turned to leave just as quickly, I didn't need any extra distractions and humans where much to fragile for my taste. Stepping outside onto the busy street, the city life was in full swing. 9 am was the prime for business and this district was full of venues.  I walked to a small table with a covered shade to sit and wait for Ben. The coffee a bitter hot against my tongue. I nodded to a few patrons as they strolled by, having to blend into the human world with my various businesses.  Some stopped to greet me and others a wave as they passed along the busy street to their destinations.  Humans reminded me of ants, the way they always moved so quickly and in clusters or lines. They never seemed to stop and enjoy the breeze or a sunset view. I shook my head clear of the negative thoughts as the smell of grime and body odor was starting to overwhelm my serene mood.  If I could ever call myself serene it was when I had a cup of coffee. I developed an addiction to the beverage early in life, needing the caffeine to keep up with my hounding mothers lessons. Before I could slip into one of my tangents on her thankfully Ben pulled out his chair and sat with a flop. The poor chair I thought having to hold his bounciness.   I quirked my eyebrow, taking another sip of the liquid goodness as I waited for him to speak.  "So I already programmed all the new numbers and transferred calendars and such into the phone so your all set captain." He ended with a wink and sat back into his chair folding his arms behind his head.  I nodded but said nothing more as I took it from him.  "So um, did someone forget to take the tampon out your coffee? I mean what ever did the poor phone do to deserve your wrath.?" Ben smiled a cheesy grin and waved his hand toward the coffee.  I grumbled under my breath "No, jackass. Actually that Agent b***h hung up on me."  He choked on his spit and slapped his chest in fake recovery to avoid the laughter I knew was bound to follow. I was in no mood to entertain him, no time for play when my sister is missing.  My glare did nothing but push his laughter to the surface. "Wow, Jed that's awesome. Maybe Fury will find this a worthy female." He winked through his tears of laughter and it ended up looking like he was having an eye seizure.  I scoffed at him but decided to humor the situation," Maybe so." He stopped laughing immediately and his eyes lit with so much spark if I was dried leaves I would have caught fire. "Jed, don't play with me. I mean if your serious ill make the honeymoon plans and nursery now." I actually smiled this time and shook my head at him. "No Ben I was only humoring your mood. I actually highly doubt I will be able to control not biting her head off. She dared to call me an a flamboyant entitled prick too."  Ben blew out a whistle at my statement and continued to smile. "Man she sounds like a keeper, hell I cant remember the last person to call you that."  I gave a smirk back as Fury pushed the image of a bloody body hanging from the ceiling of the prides dungeons.  "Anyways, before you go killing people captain. I think you should call her and apologize." Ben pulled me from my happy thoughts to this one.  I glared at him and my frown came back. "I have Never apologized Ben and don't intend to start so now. She is the one who insulted me, if any apology is to be made it is by her."  That fucker smiled at me. "Oh Jed, you have so much to learn about the female species. You are as old as dirt but aren't much smarter." He shook his head as I started to growl.  "Just hear me out." He held up his hands as he continued. " You see my friend, females like that mushy gushy s**t. That stuff that makes you feel less manly and raw. Like flower petals and bubbles with candles. Candlite dinners and long talks, love letters and hearts. Most of all apologies when they think we are wrong." My scowl became a permeant as I scoffed at him. Never in my life have I chased a female or given into these silly romance themes. I wouldn't start now just because I hurt her feelings. "f**k her feelings Ben. My sister is my priority not her, she will do well to help me or earn my wrath." He shook his head at me and leaned forward as if to make me understand him. "Jed, in our world that may be true but this is the Human side. We have to appear human to get things done here and like it or not. Humans require some delicateness. Females here are sentimental and easily hurt. Use your alpha brains and think logically." I grumbled at his insults but if anyone could say things like that to me it was Ben. At the end of the day he was the only one man or beast to oppose me or talk me out of my head-in-ass ways. Then the idea struck me. "Ben, your a genius." I jumped from my seat causing him to scamper away in fear of being struck. He realized his cowering in public eyes and straightened his features.  "I um, I am a what now?" He stammered trying to understand my meaning.  I smiled again as I put my arm around his shoulders and turned him to walk down the street towards my human office. "You see Benjamin." using his full name to make sure he understood me. "This Taylmia hasn't met me yet, and as you have said we need delicate. I am not that word. So I am going to send you, use your delicateness to her into helping us find my sister. I know you want her found as much as I do so this is a win-win situation."   He lowered his face to the ground and grumbled as we walked. " Bloody hell. Jed life begins when you get out of your comfort zone. Maybe you could use this as another lesson you know and learn delicate." He looked up at me hopeful as I growled back.  "That's an order Ben." was my short reply as we continued down the street passing pedestrians and blaring car horns. His swearing went unacknowledged with all the other sounds.  ~~~~
