Prologue II: Birth of a Changed Fate

872 Words
Wednesday, January 1st, 2048. Two years before the birth of Jason. Inside the same hospital room laid a different woman, and a man standing next to her as medical staff busied about helping the woman give birth. The young looking Japanese man held his wife’s hand reassuring her in between her pained groans. Though she was following the doctors instructions, the young Venezuelan woman still found the time to smile at her love; who was arguably more nervous then even she herself was  Nearing the eighteenth hour of giving birth loud wailing filled the room as a new life was brought into the world. Sighing in relief the young Japanese man Harumitsu collapsed onto the nearby chair trying to hold back his joyful tears from running down his face. Completely opposite of him was María, his wife was slightly panicking because she couldn't see her newborn baby. Taking a few deep breaths María turned to the nurse with a pleading stare. "It is alright Mrs. Rodriguez, your baby is perfectly healthy and is just being cleaned up congratulations.” Finally relaxing, María did everything she could to avoid falling into fatigue induced sleep when the doctor finally approached her and Harumitsu. "First off, I want to tell you both that your child is very healthy and there was nothing abnormal with her genetic mapping. You both are now the proud parents of a healthy baby girl.” The doctor took a moment while a nurse handed their daughter to María for her daughter to be given her first meal, and let the news sink in for the two proud new parents before he continued speaking, doing his best to ignore the goofy smile that was plastered across Harumitsu's face. After explaining the brief history of the S.I.U the doctor continued to tell the new parents everything that they needed to know, including the fact that they as the parents will have a very limited access to any of the information that is stored on their child's S.I.U.  "Being that children can not talk or express themselves for the first few years that they are born, you both will be able to see her currently emotional state and anything that she is in need of. Past that point only she herself can give you access to read any of the information when she is older, as the functions are currently locked until her tenth birthday. I do congratulate you both on the birth of your child. For now I'm going to let you two alone so you can discuss names. When you are finished just call for a nurse and they will get everything taken care of.” After walking out of the room one of  the nurses passed the  S.I.U over to María and Harumitsu so that the two could put it onto their new daughter, Smiling at each other the two thanked the nurse as she walked out then looking down at their daughter. Several moments passed before Harumitsu spoke gently to his wife."What about naming her Clara? It is a beautiful name that will match well with your last name and is one of the best companions.” He gently kissed both his wife's and daughter's cheek as he waited for her answer on his suggestion. As María accepted Harumitsu's kiss she slowly contemplated what he said before giggling loudly. "You know you and I are sitting here contemplating her name when we both already know what it will be. All we have to do is look at our own S.I.U's. But I understand why you don't, I don't want to feel like everything I do has been planned either, my love. I love the name Clara, but I want her middle name to be Usarra. Clara Usarra Rodriguez, it sounds powerful doesn't it my love? Like she is meant for something greater than even we know, and probably will never know.” Harumitsu couldn't help but let out a desperate sigh as he looked down at the bracelet on his daughter's hand as it displayed the words "Content. Hungry.” It didn't take him too long before he finally managed to let out his own thoughts; carefully being sure he put his thoughts into words properly. “It isn't that I don't like the feeling that everything has been planned. It is just that, sometimes I want to at least feel that I made a decision without having the previous knowledge or in this case future knowledge.” Harumitsu leaned down and kissed his wife's cheek as he carefully stroked his daughters hair. "Welcome to this beautiful universe my dear Clara. Always remember, the world you live in is smaller on the inside.” As she listened to her husband speak to their daughter María slowly whispered the name that they had decided to name her. "Clara...such a beautiful name for such a fated girl. Many things will happen in your life my little girl. I promise your father and I will both always be here for you, no matter what happens to you. We will both stand with you and protect you as we watch you grow. Carefully supporting you as to not hold you back from your own fate. I hope that you can decide you own fate like the rest of us."
