Calix’s POV The first light of dawn filtered through the curtains, casting a soft glow over the room. I woke up slowly, feeling the familiar warmth of Kane and Alaric on either side of me. But something was different. Hazel’s soft body was no longer nestled against mine. I groaned, missing the comfort of her presence, and I knew the others felt the same. I turned to Alaric, who was stirring beside me. His eyes were still half-closed, but there was a look of determination on his face. Before I could say anything, he shocked us both by standing up on his feet. My jaw dropped as I watched him walk towards the windows with steady confidence. He pulled the curtains aside, flooding the room with sunlight. Uh, what the f**k? “What the hell?” Kane muttered, his voice filled with disbelief.
