3:Royal palace

1085 Words
Hazel's POV When the man dragged me here from the river while I was healing my arm, I didn’t expect him to bring me to a palace. So imagine how shocked I am seeing myself here, even though I heard the girls excitedly talking about the Alpha King. I had no idea it was this serious. I thought they were going to see a play or something close to that, but coming to the actual palace? What are we here for? And I am probably the only unfortunate servant. The girls in the car tried to tell the bulky, huge men that I was a servant and should not be part of them. One even went as far as to ask him to throw me out of the moving car, but they paid no heed to them. Some of them even tried hitting me, but they were stopped by the man who had snapped my arm back into place. One look from those deep, heartless eyes had them shutting up, then later on they continued talking about a king I had no idea about. I want to ask what we are doing here and why we were brought here and why the girls are excited about being here. It is probably not because they are going to be made servants. It has to be something else. But I can’t exactly ask the girls from my pack; they already hate me, and now that I am with them, they cannot even stand me. The large men are out of the question because I know they could kill me with a punch. I followed the girls everywhere they went with the help of the men, who are actually guards because there are more of them in the palace. The one who snapped my arm stayed beside me all through. I don’t know why he did that. Is it because he saw that I was going to get bullied as soon as he left my side? Or because I looked like I would run away the first chance I got? I’m not sure which, but I’m grateful either way. I wouldn't run far before I got caught. I am not escaping being a servant of one pack to come back here and be another servant. I was waiting for the slight opportunity to leave my former pack, so if I have the chance here, I will leave in a heartbeat. We were ushered to a room where two ladies stood in the same uniform. They stood there like statues, not saying anything or even moving. The guards asked us to sit down, then they turned around and left us with the ladies. Slowly, the girls started moving around us, whispering to the girls that the Alpha King they want to be married to is actually not well. He has a dangerous disability. Erectile dysfunction. “We are here for the Alpha King to choose a bride?” I asked the lady who had just finished telling me. She stared at me, confused, as though she didn’t know which planet I came from and why I didn’t sound… excited? Well, not my fault because hello? No one told me. “Yes. The Alpha King is meant to choose a wife among you, but mind you, he is not well.” She whispered, then left me to go to the next girl. After that, we were given nice gowns to wear, our hair was styled, though mine still looked as dull as it could ever be despite being short because servants are not allowed to leave it long for style. We are meant to look ugly. “We are going to meet the Alpha King!” announced the head maid who walked in and gave us gowns. We all followed her down the long corridors and reached a large oak door that looked ancient. This place is so luxurious I cannot help but gape around. The girls hissed when they bumped into me, but they are more excited to become the Alpha King’s wives than to bother about me. Entering the dining hall, the girls all made their way to the seats, making sure to have the ones closest to the Alpha King’s that sat at the head of the table. They all gushed over him when I couldn't even see him from where I stood. I weighed my chances of running away to find that it is close to none, so I made my way to the last seat remaining on the other end of the table far from the King, then sat down. I bowed my head anxiously. The dinner was served. It was something I have never seen nor even dreamt about having my whole life, so I wolfed down everything with no etiquette whatsoever. I don’t care. I need this. Soon, I realized the dining table was quiet, then I raised my head to find everyone staring at me. I licked the side of my lips as my face heated up. After a moment, they went back to their meals, not before sending me a dirty look. Another course of food was brought; I finished everything in minutes while the others barely ate. I cannot afford to let this go just like that. I might never see it again. I was full to the brim and slurping on a strawberry mojito when the Queen Mother, whom I hadn’t seen earlier, stood up and clicked her glass to get our attention. Well, mine, since the girls' attention was already on her. “This is my son, Alaric, the Alpha King,” she announced. Alaric moved away from the dining table, and we all saw that he was in a wheelchair. The girls gasped, but I didn’t. I didn’t care. The Queen Mother continued, “Whoever is willing and ready to become his mate should remain seated. If not, you may leave the dining hall now and will be returned to your packs immediately.” The girls hesitated for a moment. Then something happened: the Alpha King appeared more unkempt, with a beard covering most of his face. I think they all remembered that he had erectile dysfunction. All of them stood up and hurriedly ran for the door after bowing to the king and his mother. I was the only one who remained seated. Both the queen mother and Alpha King turned to me with questions in their eyes. “I will marry you, my king.”
