Alpha Barton stared at the wooden carvings on the carriage longingly. He should have left, to be with her. His pack would be no worse off - in truth it seemed they were injured only because the Alpha was present. The massive wolves around him ceased their aggression, though Barton suspected even a slight move to depart would result in them attacking. Noises were coming from the carriage - a rabid growling, and a voice, cautioning the creature to calm, telling it the worst would be over soon. The voice was unbelievably deep, and sounded layered, almost like many people speaking in unison. The creature fell silent and Barton could hear footsteps and the rattle of the carriage door opening.
