14 The next afternoon, at her kitchen table while their children were at school, Scarlett confided in her best friend, Leela. “You have no idea of a future for yourself?” Leela asked and poured milk into her Chai tea. “Is that what’s wrong? What about Troy? You have to be strong for him.” The kitchen curtains swayed as though in a breeze, but the day was still. Leela continued, “It’s the angst of our times.
