Thursday
“Okay! I am coming sir.” Surya put down his receiver of the phone and went ahead to the HOD's chamber. He silently peeked into the conversation where Hari Prasad was furious with 2 of his students standing hand folded before him looking meekly into his eyes "Whatever you have done was unforgivable." Hari Prasad shouted at Vishal. Leikh, an over weighted woman with round face was standing beside him trying to be supportive.
"Sir, give him a last opportunity. He won't do such mistake again"
"There is no other chance. He is a culprit and shame to our college" He looked over the door to look at Surya who’s standing in the entrance. Hari Prasad welcomed him exchanged greetings. “I personally wanted to thank you for the post you put in f*******:" Surya smiled gratefully.
The other day Surya met HOD to give his book sample. The HOD received him warmly and asked to write an autograph on it. When he was signing, he compelled him to write something. What he could write to an HOD? Out of the blue, he wrote ‘Good luck for your endeavours as HOD’
And later, he explained his plans about raising funds through the book to help the poor orphans and cripples staying in Vivekananda Vikas Kendra. So, the HOD gave his visiting card to contact him whenever he needed help. Surya took a pic of it and posted in sss. One of the Assist. Professor in his f*******: who was a student of Hari Prasad read the status and appreciated his mentorship in the comment section. She called the Professor and informed about this thing.
"Really I am so happy that someone is thinking like me and appreciating my efforts. Thank you once again"
"It's my pleasure sir. Your story is inspiring. It should reach everyone"
"We are just a minute speckle in the entire university. Why do we have this ego and proud? I am just grateful for whatever I had been given and giving something in return to this Earth.
"Sir. Anyhow what's the problem here?"
"This Vishal went to take the blood sample of a patient. When the attendant was waiting outside, he misbehaved with her by keeping his hands over her." Surya looked at him angrily who riveted his eyes down out of shame.
"I am thinking to debar him"
"Sir. Just think about his family and his career. If he gets debarred his parents can't take it."
"If I just leave, he will also turn into someone like that Sridhar. You know the incident, right?"
Not just Surya, everyone knows about the dispute of his Neurosurgery professor Sridhar. A year ago, he admitted a patient from a village background. The attendant was a tender aged woman with petite appearance. He had an eye upon her. He blackmailed her if she didn’t give into him, he would stop all the essential treatment for the patient. Out of desperation she accepted and went to his room silently and came outside later with expressionless face. It's so evident that she was under some shock. She didn’t know how to process what happened to her. Her relatives asked what happened and why she was like that. After 45 minutes she began crying and never stopped for a long time. The angry attenders manhandled Sridhar and beat him with slippers in front of all the patients. It became a big news and was telecasted by media. With her influence, his wife who was a Plastic Surgery Professor, saved her husband with huge compensation. Hari Prasad dislikes her for her ways of exploiting money from her patients by doing unnecessary procedures.
“I don’t know how to handle such perverts. I treated everyone like son and see how did he behave? Now I have to sign this apology letter and beg the R.M.O and attendants to withdraw the complaint. Anyhow I have to do it. It's fate" He took a paper irately, leaning over the table he signed it and gave to Leikh. "Get lost."
Leikh handled the paper trembling with fear, and looked at Vishal in disgust and signed him to follow her. He, meekly, with his head still down, not daring to confront and look into any of their eyes, followed her like an obedient child with all due respect.
HOD was fuming with anger and trying to regain his composition.
Surya knew what to do. "Sir! Yesterday told you about my plans to help an orphanage, right?"
"Yes. yes. true. You want to raise the money, keep a share of it for future printing of your book and remaining you want to donate an orphanage" Hari Prasad gestured to occupy the seat opposite him. "Here is my suggestion, don't give the money directly to the warden, unless you trust him so much. Buy some articles yourself and distribute them"
"Yes sir. Even I am planning to do the same. I would like to organise a bon-appetite programme and donate any clothes which I buy myself."
"Inform about your charity to the retail shop owners so that they would give for lesser price.” He smiled warmly.
"Thanks for the suggestion" Surya nodded.
Hari Prasad searched his pockets for something "Sometimes I buy goods like bananas or any eatables to the patients and delegate my PGs to do that work so they have utmost satisfaction. If I do, I only get the satisfaction but I want even them to have that feeling of empathy towards the patients" and finally he managed to took out his phone and searched for its contents "Once there was a surprise invigilation. And all the patients told that our care was so good. Only the medicine supply was not up to the mark. The antibiotics we get are of cheap quality and doubtful about its work on the patients. That's why for this particular patient" he showed a pic of young girl in her early teenage happily smiling along with her father and younger sister "I bought the antibiotics on my own. It took hardly 10000 but she had a happy life now. A little charity I gave helped this girl to regain her life"
Surya looked with awe at him. "Sir! I heard about this patient. Isn't she the girl with 65% burn? It's amazing. Recently a young kid died of just 25 % in Acute burns care"
"That's what I am stressing about. This quality less antibiotics are of no help. Sometimes we need to give out some money out of our pockets for charity to help people like her. See, she is having a happy life now"
"True sir. I really never thought about this. I would donate some of my earnings by selling my books for antibiotics. If you don't mind, I need a favour."
“Please tell doctor."
"I want you to introduce some HODs in Gandhi...”
"Why do you want to meet HODs, you could have asked to pretty female PG instead" he chuckled.
"I want to interact with the UG students over there"
"We have our Osmania College. Why do you interact over there?"
"It's my UG college sir. I have connections with that"
"Start with Osmania then. Later you think about Gandhi. We have our own classes in Osmania. Use them. There is the roster of our classes and who will take the class." And he passed a printed copy with dates and the lecturer names. "You want early or later date"
"Whenever is possible"
"Don’t be ambiguous. Decide with clarity. Such things shouldn’t be delayed. As said, there is no right time for right thing."
"Definitely sir. I choose the earlier date" and he peeked into the roaster "It's in 5 days and Assist. Professor Dr. Ashwin is taking the class"
"Good. Inform the prior day" They exchanged smiles.
While Surya was walking away from the room, the HOD's face contorted to a gloomy and sullen expression. He looked a photograph in his purse. "Wish I could save you then"
“What's your problem Vishal?” Surya asked him out of concern. Vishal didn’t say a word out of shame. Surya knew how it was kind of addiction for some people to misbehave with girls. It's kind of uncontrollable urge that makes a way for all the unforeseen consequences. Mind is like a monkey. If you don’t properly tame it, it will crush you eventually. Surya remembered his friend Sudheer and the way he committed suicide when his affair video got leaked. Since his death, Surya always tried to be helpful for pervert minded misled people.
Vishal saw Surya as a good friend and mentor. Surya maintained his composure most of the times, being patient and all ears to the people without judging them and gave unbiased suggestions.
Vishal's background was that he was only child in a poor family residing in Mancheeryal. He was an obedient and decent student. Once he joined Surgery and shifted to Hyderabad, he felt too lonely. He missed even his college life and the fun he had. In Surgery it was all about duty. It was so stressful for him. Most of the unmarried doctors live their rest of the life sexually high. Probably true for many. And Vishal gradually settled into that category like a dust particle in a contaminated water, too heavy to suspend and eventually settle to bottom without any jest in life. He was struck with a common phenomenon called stress cycle. He used to live the whole week stressful and, in the weekends, he broke free with gambling addiction, preparing for the stress next week, perpetuating this stress cycle. This is what called burn out phase of doctors. Psychology shows different departments of doctor’s burn out to the different degree. Statistics never go wrong. It was an unbiased study. At that moment Surya became a good friend to Vishal. Real friends show up when needed.

Thursday evening
Surya’s Hostel Room
"Why don't you find a prostitute and get your head clear off these s****l thoughts?" Surya advised wisely with a peg in his hand trying to understand his psychology. Vishal had a sip of his peg, his favourite blender's pride with drowsy face.
"What if I get addicted to a prostitute?"
"Your problem is that you think it turns into addiction but it’s not"
And Surya gave a pimp’s number to him.
Vishal did exactly what he said.
Nov 22ndmorning
Surya’s room
Surya woke upon his bed. He yawned, stretched and opened his eyes. Vishal sat opposite to him with weary expression looking disappointed. Surya sat beside him patted over his shoulder.
"So how was your experience?"
"Worst! My stomach churns every time I think it. I couldn't do even one time" Vishal told with his eyes gyrating down out of shame.
"Without love it has no meaning." Surya shrugged.
"And I am developing phobia on girls" Vishal said with a gloomy expression. “I failed all the night. I am psychologically impotent."
"Everything will become normal. Give sometime to yourself"
Vishal sighed and left from the room.
Nov 23rd------
And the next few days, there was a remarkable change in the behaviour of Vishal. He indulged more in Surgery. He just wanted to get free from the guilty feeling and the only possible way was to invest time efficiently in his duties.
Hari Prasad watched him for the next few days and really impressed with Vishal’s devotion to profession and asked Surya out of curiosity. "I never saw him working so devoted"
"I just made something to create an aversion to girls and s*x. And when he voluntarily was ready to change, I showed him the direction. When the student really needed then the teacher should appear."
"But how did you do that?"
"I gave him a low dose of metoprolol in the sildenafil bottle. He had the tablets before s*x and lost libido. Later, I mind washed that eventually it ends the same way with any girl who he has s*x out of lust. Now he found his love for the profession for the time being. I hope it changed his outlook, perspective of life and eventually break the stress cycle."
Hari Prasad nodded. "For any habit to establish full-fledged, it has to be done for 21 days. Let's wait a couple of weeks more." At the moment they didn’t know the repercussions of the little experiment.
