Max's eyes narrowed, his gaze locked on the stranger. "Who are you?" he demanded, his voice firm and authoritative. The stranger smiled, his eyes glinting with amusement. "You don't remember me, Max?" he asked, his voice dripping with sarcasm. Max's face twisted in confusion, his eyes scanning the stranger's face. And then, suddenly, his eyes widened in recognition. "Victor," he whispered, his voice barely audible. Victor's smile grew wider, his eyes glinting with triumph. "That's right, Max," he said, his voice dripping with malice. "I'm Victor, your old friend from the past." Rose's eyes narrowed, her mind racing with questions. What did Victor want from Max? And what was their connection to each other? Emily's eyes were wide with fear, her face pale and drawn. "Max, what's going on?" she whispered, her voice trembling with fear. Max's face was set in a determined expression, his eyes locked on Victor. "Don't worry, Emily," he said, his voice firm. "I'll take care of this." Victor's laughter echoed through the room, his eyes glinting with amusement. "I don't think you can, Max," he said, his voice dripping with malice. "You see, I have something that belongs to you. Something that you'll do anything to get back." Rose's heart skipped a beat as she realized what Victor was implying. He had something that Max wanted, something that he was willing to do anything to get back. And then, suddenly, Victor's eyes locked on Rose, his gaze piercing and intense. "Ah, yes," he said, his voice dripping with malice. "I almost forgot. I have something that belongs to you too, Rose. Rose's heart skipped a beat as Victor's words hung in the air. What could he possibly have that belonged to her? She felt a sense of unease wash over her, her mind racing with possibilities. Max's eyes narrowed, his gaze locked on Victor. "What are you talking about?" he demanded, his voice firm and authoritative. Victor smiled, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Oh, I think Rose knows exactly what I'm talking about," he said, his voice dripping with malice. Rose felt a surge of fear as Victor's eyes seemed to bore into her soul. She tried to speak, but her voice caught in her throat. Emily's eyes were wide with fear, her face pale and drawn. "Max, what's going on?" she whispered, her voice trembling with fear. Max's face was set in a determined expression, his eyes locked on Victor. "Don't worry, Emily," he said, his voice firm. "I'll take care of this." Victor's laughter echoed through the room, his eyes glinting with amusement. "I don't think you can, Max," he said, his voice dripping with malice. "You see, I have the upper hand here. And I'm not going to let you leave until you give me what I want." Rose felt a sense of desperation wash over her. What did Victor want from them? And how were they going to get out of this situation alive? Suddenly, Victor's eyes locked on Rose, his gaze piercing and intense. "Rose, come here," he said, his voice low and menacing. Rose felt a surge of fear as she hesitated, her heart pounding in her chest. What did Victor want from her? And what would happen if she didn't comply?Rose's legs felt like lead, her feet rooted to the spot. She couldn't move, couldn't breathe. Victor's eyes seemed to be pulling her in, drawing her closer with an otherworldly force. Max's hand shot out, grabbing Rose's arm and holding her back. "Don't go anywhere near him," he growled, his voice low and menacing. Victor's smile grew wider, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Oh, Max," he said, his voice dripping with malice. "You're so predictable. You think you can protect her? You think you can keep her safe?" Rose felt a surge of fear as Victor's words hung in the air. What did he mean? What did he want from her? Max's grip on her arm tightened, his eyes blazing with determination. "I'll do whatever it takes to keep her safe," he growled. Victor's laughter echoed through the room, his eyes glinting with amusement. "We'll see about that," he said, his voice dripping with malice. Suddenly, the lights flickered and died, plunging the room into darkness. Rose felt a surge of fear as she was dragged backward, away from Victor's menacing presence. She stumbled, her feet tangling in the darkness. Max's grip on her arm tightened, holding her upright. "What's going on?" Emily whispered, her voice trembling with fear. Rose's heart was racing, her mind reeling with possibilities. What was happening? And how were they going to get out of this alive?The darkness was oppressive, making it hard for Rose to breathe. She felt like she was suffocating, like the weight of the world was crushing her. Max's grip on her arm tightened, holding her upright. "Stay close," he whispered, his voice barely audible. Rose nodded, her heart racing with fear. She had no idea what was happening, but she knew they had to get out of there. Suddenly, a faint light flickered to life, illuminating the room. Rose blinked, her eyes adjusting to the light. Victor stood in front of them, a cruel smile spreading across his face. "Welcome to my world," he said, his voice dripping with malice. Rose felt a surge of fear as she took in their surroundings. They were in a large, dimly lit room, with stone walls and a cold, damp floor. Max's eyes narrowed, his gaze locked on Victor. "What do you want from us?" he growled. Victor's smile grew wider, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Oh, I think you know exactly what I want," he said, his voice dripping with malice. Rose felt a chill run down her spine as she realized what Victor was implying. He wanted something from them, something that they were not willing to give. And then, suddenly, Victor's eyes locked on Rose, his gaze piercing and intense. "You, Rose," he said, his voice low and menacing. "I want something from you. Something that only you can give me.Rose's heart skipped a beat as Victor's words hung in the air. What could he possibly want from her? She felt a sense of trepidation wash over her, her mind racing with possibilities. Max's eyes narrowed, his gaze locked on Victor. "What do you want from her?" he growled, his voice low and menacing. Victor's smile grew wider, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Oh, Max," he said, his voice dripping with malice. "You're so protective of her. But you can't protect her from me. I have something that she wants, something that she needs." Rose felt a surge of fear as Victor's words struck a chord within her. What could he possibly have that she wanted? She thought back to her past, trying to remember anything that could be used against her. And then, suddenly, it hit her. The memory that she had been trying to suppress for so long. The memory that she thought was lost forever. Victor's eyes seemed to gleam with triumph as he saw the realization dawn on Rose's face. "Yes, Rose," he said, his voice low and menacing. "I have something that you want. Something that you'll do anything to get." Rose felt a chill run down her spine as she realized the true extent of Victor's power. He had something that she wanted, something that she needed. And he was willing to use it against her.Max's eyes flashed with anger, his face twisted in a snarl. "You're not going to use her," he growled, his voice low and menacing. "Whatever it is you think you have, you're not going to use it against her." Victor's smile grew wider, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Oh, Max," he said, his voice dripping with malice. "You're so predictable. You think you can protect her, but you can't. I have something that she wants, something that she needs. And I'm going to use it to get what I want." Rose felt a surge of fear as Victor's words hung in the air. What did he have that she wanted? What did he have that she needed? She thought back to her past, trying to remember anything that could be used against her. And then, suddenly, Victor's eyes locked on hers, his gaze piercing and intense. "You want to know what it is, don't you?" he said, his voice low and menacing. "You want to know what I have that you want so badly." Rose nodded, her heart pounding in her chest. She had to know what Victor had, had to know what he was using against her. Victor's smile grew wider, his eyes glinting with triumph. "Very well," he said, his voice dripping with malice. "I'll show you. But be warned, Rose. Once you see it, there's no going back.Victor snapped his fingers, and one of his minions stepped forward, holding a small, intricately carved box. Victor took the box and opened it, revealing a small, leather-bound book inside. Rose's eyes widened as she saw the book, her heart racing with recognition. It was her mother's journal, the one she had been searching for her entire life. "How did you get this?" Rose demanded, her voice shaking with anger. Victor smiled, his eyes glinting with triumph. "I have my ways," he said, his voice dripping with malice. "And now, I have the one thing that can control you." Max's eyes narrowed, his gaze locked on Victor. "You're not going to use that against her," he growled, his voice low and menacing. Victor laughed, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Oh, but I already am," he said, his voice dripping with malice. "You see, Rose, this journal holds the secrets of your past, the secrets of your family's history. And with it, I can control you, manipulate you into doing my bidding." Rose felt a surge of fear as Victor's words hung in the air. She knew that she had to get the journal back, had to stop Victor from using it against her. But how?
