All the words I had planned to say fizzled out of my head the moment Cole leaned into me, his lips brushing my ear. He was too close.
My nape grew hot, and I backed away almost immediately. My head grew blurry, and I stumbled back.
Cole's arms held me steady, his smile charming as ever. "Are you okay?"
I shook my head. My lips parted to speak, but nothing clear came out. His arms around my waist grew tighter as he led me away.
"Come on, let me take you home."
A wave of relief washed through me at his offer, and I leaned into him, letting his warmth seep into my skin.
