Alpha Games

Chapter 27- Entering the Desert

After the fight, everyone fussed over taking care of me. Mom filled the tube with ice water and insisted i get in to help the healing and take off the swelling. I risked a look in the mirror and my reflection scared me. I was covered in blood, the streaks of tears down my cheeks were the only visible color of my skin. Multiple bruises battered my body and i defiantly couldn't ignore the broken rib, although i knew it would heal in a few more hours. Perks of being supernatural, our healing is rather quick.

Slipping into the ice bath my breath hitched, that is seriously cold. The cubes floating around had my focus as i forced my body lower, the initial sting turned to a numbing and i found that the pain was completely gone and i was felt as if i was getting a high from it. My thoughts where immediately calmed one with the cold, a blank, numb cold. Why have i never tried this before, as i sighed happily the warm hand brought me out of my bliss. 

"Sarah honey its time to get out n get cleaned up. We leave for the Desert wolves in an hour, your father is more than ready to leave." My mother Serena patted my cheek as she left the room. I could still hear my father in the other room. He must have been on the phone since every now and then he would raise his voice a little but i never heard another word from anyone else. 

Pulling myself out of the water i dried myself with the towel, being careful around my rib since i could feel the dull throb coming back. After getting changed into skinny dark jeans, white v-neck shirt and my flats i opened the bathroom door to find everyone in my room. Bags where all stacked neatly on a cart by the door, they had even packed my things as well. 

"So i take it yall are ready to go then?" i asked with my eyebrow raised still holding the door handle.  Sophie spoke up first " Yeah, more than ready apparently your public castration of a beta did not go unnoticed and even though most approved it was still not allowed." i rolled my eyes at her.

Before i could continue my father interjected " Sarah, while i most definitely would have done it, being a princess doing it has rather upset the council. Obviously he more than deserved his death as well but you also told a king to clean his pack up." He laughed at the last part shaking his head. "You are most definitely my fire and rice wrapped up in my little trouble making package, I don't believe there is an alpha ballsy enough to claim you at this point." 

Smiling at his words, a pang in my heart as i heard them. That is the same thing Max calls me, i needed him." Daddy, does that mean we can call off the Alpha Games now and i can me an Alpha Queen ruling alone?" I smiled hopefully. If that happens i would choose Max and this whole thing would be over. Bruce was wonderful but he already had a mate and i knew that, my wolf wouldn't allow us to be second loved for sure. We were both greedy and needed our mates all, physically and emotionally.

Samuel's response made my shoulders slump " Ha, i would love to say so but your little display has more than we ever imagined wanting you as a mate! You now have more than 15 males vying for your hand and ready to kill for it." He smiled so big at the last part, he obviously was beyond proud of me at this point. whether or not i liked it, i guess this was a good thing. Now i have more than enough choices in a mate, i knew i wanted the strongest i could get and even though i wanted max, my wolf wasn't so sure. 

Finally making our way onto the plane, i flopped down in my seat. Lifting my phone up to my ear i wanted to hear from home. Three rings and Millie's voice was loud and shrill " You crazy, amazing, psychotic, alpha wolf! I am so proud of you! Your like all anyone can talk about! You as big a hit as Carrie Underwood!" I laughed at her shaking my head. I slid over to watch out the window as the last of our bags where loaded up. 

"Thanks Mils, i did what we all thought of a hundred times but when i heard about his daughters i couldn't control myself or Sadie, he deserved to never hurt anyone else. As for the king well there is a reason they are called shadows i suppose." Her laughing on the other end warmed my heart. I missed home and couldn't wait to be back.

 "Hey Mils" I interrupted her long rant on Vicky drama, i couldn't help but want to talk with Max " Can i speak to Max really quick, we are about to take off and i don't have long" She sighed "Sar, he isn't with me, i don't know where he is but you know your going to miss our birthday." 

Crap i forgot they where Christmas Day babies, Miracles Ms. Mara called them. "Oh, okay, yeah i know Mils. I'm so sorry, i would do anything to be back there. After my little episode apparently i pissed of the council and somehow amped up the males and now i have more than 15 Males wanting to fight to win me. I honestly wished i could just me Alpha Queen and choose my mate, we both know who i would choose and everything would be right in the world." 

"Sarah" Millie breathed into the phone "I know what you mean, i miss you crazy, just please be careful. Your almost done right?  Dessert Wolves for a few days then the Mountain Wolves and your home! I'm not letting you out of my sight when you get here! So Max can suck it ill get all your attention!" Laughing at her i agreed and got off the line as we where taking off.

Settling into my seat next to Gezara we watched the plane lifting into the air and slicing though the clouds like butter. I sighed happily when we where at cruising altitude and reclined my seat back ready for a much needed sleep. The plane ride would be around 5 hours so i knew i could get in a nice beauty rest and be healed completely by the time we landed. 

Wincing as i moved wrong and hissing out a damn, Gezara leaned over holding my freehand.         "Sarah, you okay there? It's the rib isn't it? How long until your healed?"Smiling at her concern for me i squeezed her hand, "Yeah ill be good by the time we land, completely healed from head to toe." 

Laughing she pulled my hand from hers and tapped my forehead with her fingers "Nothing can fix that stubborn head of yours." I slapped her hand away playfully and laughed "Yep, well you wouldn't love me if i wasn't".  We shared another laugh when i laid back down to try and sleep before we landed. "Sarah i have never flown before, I've never been out of the shadows pack until school in yours. What is the Desert Wolves Pack like?" 

I answered her sleepily " I don't really remember, its been so long since seeing them. There is a really cute prince though, that much i do remember. Millie actually teased me about it before we left. One of the meetings we had and i attended i was apparently staring at him the whole time and didn't pay attention to the actual meeting."

Shaking her head Gezara laughed again"Yeah well you are most defiantly the most boy crazy she-wolf i have ever met. Most have one male and they don't  share lol you have like 3 so far!"  I only rolled my eyes and turning in my seat i faced away from her.

 " yep, we can't all be Princess Perfect like me." The sarcasm was laced in my voice, its not like i get mad when they pay other girls attention. "The only one i even want right now is Max anyway, but i can't have what i want unless he kills like a ton of others. I'm going to sleep for a while i'm wore out, wake me when we land please". She only nodded at me in return and looked out the window.

I was done with the conversation, it had put me in a rather sour mood now, i missed Max.Falling into a dreamless deep sleep didn't take long, the activities from last night and this morning where taking a tole.

Shaking and clanging woke me up from my present slumber. Jolting awake i looked out the window and sand stretched for miles. "Alpha King Samuel and passengers we are in a little bit of turbulent air but will be landing shortly, please tighten your seat belts and begin preparation for landing. 

After what felt like an hour with jolting and swaying of the plane we finally touched down. I did notice that my rib had healed completely since i didn't once grab at it or feel the pain surge through me like before. Unbuckling my seat belt i stood up stretching out, Sophie squeezed me from behind and was jumping up and down shaking me up in her excitement. 

"Did you hear? We get to stay in our own private floor and there is an indoor pool and 24 hours Pizza buffet!" Sophie was squealing so loud i winced and patted her head uncurling her arms from around me i knelt down. 

 "Soph that't fantastic! So now we can swim and eat pizza at the same time!" She nodded at me and ran towards the exit door. Shaking my head at her then my mom touched my arm "Sarah, we are meeting with the king and queen here shortly so please be on your best behavior. " She winked at the last part. Does that mean she finally is understanding and more over accepting who we have become? 

'SURE SEEMS THAT WAY TO ME, THANK YOU FOR LETTING US REST, I WAS SO DRAINED AFTER THE CHALLENGE I THOUGHT I WAS LOST' Sadie chuckled at the last part. 'Your so welcome Sadie, I hope you Slept as well as i did, i'm ready to see what's in store for us here. Help me keep my senses high, i am not looking to underestimate anyone again. '

Gezara pulled me from my thoughts with a gentle tap on my shoulder "Sarah, they are ready for us, remember i am your ladies maid to help with your dressing. I hate that title but its for all of our safety." I nodded to her and pulled her into a tight hug "Regardless of our cover story you are my sister now and i will treat you as such." She smiled brightly and nodded as we descended out of the plane. 

Stepping into the Sand i couldn't believe the dry heat that followed. Even the air seemed desperate for rain. It wasn't unbearable heat but defiantly not what i was used to, i'm a snow and ice girl, not a sand and heat for sure. I don't know how these wolves live in this, i noticed not to far away 5 wolves stood surveying the land around us. I locked eyes with the biggest and he nodded his head in recognition to me. 

He must be the prince i thought, his fur was matched the sand almost perfectly. If i was not a wolf as well he would be camouflage, i suppose there wolves are like ours and purebreds are more solid. I do wonder however if the wolf who wins the Alpha Games happens to be black or even sand i wonder how they will fair in the snow. 

The wolves disappeared behind a sand dune as we climbed into two different jeeps. I was riding with Gezara and a few guards while my sister and parents along with the other guards followed us. I could feel my fathers unhappiness in the mind link as he asked me if i was okay. " We are fine daddy, Gezara is sightseeing." Smiling at her she bounced in the seat pointing out each hill as we passed by saying how amazing they where.

This place to look so bland really did have amazing structures, as we came into a city most houses were modern along with a paved street. A Garden was surrounded with different apartments and we even passed by a kids park. I'm sure Sophie was bouncing and whining about wanting to stop and play. The ten year old in her comes out on occasion, she is a spitfire like me for sure only she is much less rational. I know my parents have there hands full when she hits puberty. 

When the jeep stopped and the door opened a beautiful woman with yellow eyes dark skin and chocolate brown hair wrapped in white silk greeted me. Her eyes captivated me, they were almost golden with hints of brown in flecks.  I Had never seen eyes so bright and beautiful. 

"Welcome to the Desert Wolves Pack i am Luna Queen Thalissa, i have heard a lot about you fierce Princess. Come along now and i will show you around the land."
