Chapter 28-Desert or Dessert?

After our initial introduction, Luna Queen Thalissa Zane showed us to an amazing villa on the coastline. I wasn't aware there was a coastline since all the places i had seen had been sand. The villa itself was extravagant in everyday, the designer had spared no expense as i was informed this was the Alpha King and Luna Queen's personal home. They had decided to live apart from the others and had the pack house a few minutes away. 

It was quite interesting learning about the different packs ways of life. From there rules and regulations to the diversity in wolves or people however you might think of us Lycans. The Large windows of the villa gave a wonderful view of the waves crashing against the bank. There was not a beach per say, mostly just rocks but there where few sandy places to reach the water. 

Standing under the pergola off the back french doors, my body leaned against the railing as i took in the view. The smell of the salt was a bittersweet reminder of my victorious fight in the Shadow Pack. My wolf and myself felt very proud of our accomplishment ,despite the wolves we angered, it counterbalanced once the others heard of me. 

Feeling eyes on me i turned my head slightly catching movement on my left. I instinctively moved to the right and a blur of sandy fur rushed by me. I crouched ready to shift and pounce at the wolf who dared, when a voice behind me caught my attention. 

"Princess Sarah, Excuse my brother he apparently lost his mind along with manners." I recognized the voice to be the prince i had ogled in the last meeting. He strolled over to me and held out his hand in greeting. I looked back briefly to see the sandy wolf sit down and c**k his head at us. 

"Ah Hello Prince Theo, its so nice to see you again." He only smirked in response as he pointed to the wolf behind me. "That is Theo Princess, we have not had the pleasure to meet yet. I Am Teo, his identical twin." i stilled at that and looked him over, how odd was this now not realizing there was two.

Strong high cheek bones, tan silky skin, black medium length hair along with the yellow eyes i was captivated by. His body was lean with muscle and his white button up complimented his skin nicely pared with dark wash jeans and brown boots. 

He chuckled at me as he to began to scan over my body, starting at my eyes and moving down then back up. He nodded appreciatively and the wolf named Theo behind me yipped. I glared at them, crossing my arms over my chest. Not realizing the maneuver pushed my chest out, until his eyes changed to a darker yellow almost golden. 

Lust was clear in his eyes so i dropped my hands clearing my throat and sticking my hand out in greeting. He tilted his head and grabbed my hand giving it a firm shake. 

"We were actually wondering if you might fancy a little hunt with us. We are about to leave if you would like to join us?" His voice was hopeful as he looked over his shoulder to his brother who was wagging his tail but still in the seated position on the sand. 

" I would love to join, my wolf would like a breather anyway. Let me just okay it with my father and guards." As i linked my father i noticed Teo disappear behind a rock, reemerging in wolf form identical to his brother.  Getting the okay with my father but to be back before dark and to allow a guard to accompany me. 

Going behind the same rock to shift i folded my clothes and set them next to Teos, taking in his watermelon sugar scent. I smiled thinking he smelled like summer and i rather enjoyed it. Stepping out and shaking my fur i followed the boys to the edge of the sand where a few brush piles where visible, along with cactus plants and trees i had never seen. 

The heat was getting to us as i was panting and my fur even felt sunburned. The twins didn't seem fazed one bit as we trotted along. Meanwhile my feet where on fire from the scorching sand, i just wanted to hide in the little shade i could see beyond the brush we where approaching. Obviously my fur was like a beacon for light to reflect, i felt like a disco ball, only a really hot one. 

I huffed and panted some more when we stopped in the shade i dug a little hole in the sand and laid down in the coolness of it.  Theo, or was it Teo, changed back into human covering himself with his knee to the side and chuckled at me, "My My Princess are you tired already?" i shook my head no and growled. 

He put his hands up in surrender and laughed again "Our fur is designed to blend into the Sand here, i can tell your not used to the heat, if you and your guard would like to wait. Theo and i will head up the way and bring back the Onyx should we be successful. I nodded in return, i knew the animal would probably see me a mile away with my ice white fur.  

He shifted back and trotted off with his brother as i waited in the cool sand with one of my guards. Feeling extremely bored and out of place i decided to make conversation to pass time as i looked around at the desert surrounding us. "So Danny what is new in your world?" i mindlinked him. 

He jerked his head toward me so fast i thought it might pop off "Aye Princess things are going well. My mate and i are expecting our fourth pup after Christmas and we couldn't be more thrilled." 

"Wow, Fourth huh. That's a lot of mouths to feed and paws to chase, that'll keep ya'll young for sure with all that energy! Congratulations on your prosperous family." He nodded his wolf head at my remark and turned his attention in the distance. Following his stare i caught sight of  around 150 pound white onyx being drug by the brothers. 

I yipped and ran towards them, my wolf was excited to taste the beast. We had not ever eaten onyx before and were eager to experience it.  Stopping a few feet away i walked around the twins and there kill, inspecting them and the animal all at once. I noticed one had a slight scar above his left eye, he growled at me as if i was staring to long. 

I snorted at him as the other shifted the onyx in his mouth and laid him at my feet. It felt like an offering which Sadie and i happily accepted as we tore into the shoulder of the animal. As the warm blood oozed in my mouth Sadie sighed inwardly and tore a chunk of meat away. The bone snapped as we tugged using our paws to hold the body still. Once the chunk was free we padded a ways away lying back in the shade.We placed the meat on our paws keeping the sand off as we ate. This was a really tender beast, almost as tender as the whitetail deer back home. 

Watching the brothers tear into the animal, my guard stayed close while we all finished our meal. There was only skin and bones left once the boys had eaten there fill. The buzzards and other scavengers wouldn't get a great meal later i thought. The twins where covered in blood and there fur seemed to start matting already between the sand and wind. They nodded to me as if to say it was time to go, i rolled over on my side and stretched having a full stomach and followed them. 

Once back at the Villa we had said our goodbyes, well only Teo saying goodbye in human form. Theo had the scar i realized as he disappeared, so i just shrugged and headed to my room ready to shower and get some sleep. Once back in my room i did just that, after my shower i had just gotten comfortable in the white satin sheets when a knock on my door had me growling. 

 Opening the door Gezara was standing there in her pajama pants t shirt and a sketchpad. She was bouncing from foot to foot as she timidly asked to come in. I opened the door wider and gestured for her to come in, she then hoped on the bed and kicked her slippers off.  She positioned herself against the headboard and motioned for me to come next to her. 

Sliding in beside her i looked at her sketchbook that she was now hugging to her chest.  i pointed to the book "Is there something you wanted to show me?" She nodded as she hesitantly laid the book down so i could look at the drawing. I knew she had visions and drew them often.

The brown almost black eyes along with the lavender and rose scent came back to me in a rush. The drawing was of the vampire i had met at the cliff when i saved Izzy. I looked back up at Gezara startled, the drawing was not only him but also the Deveroux brothers along with a few others from the Shadows Pack watching as i ripped into Beta Evans. 

Gezara pointed to the vampire in the photo "I Know all of the others, but who is this?" she asked looking me dead in the eyes. I gulped "Well you already know i met him and who he is sort of. The first drawing you had of us was the first time i met him. Well i thought it was but now i realize he was actually at my birthday ball as well. I made a deal with him to save Izzy on the cliffs, that i would allow a member of the Valdevire clan join in the Alpha Games." I finished giving a huff.

She gasp and covered her mouth "Hes a Valdevire? As in the Vampire Kings of Arcadiana? Why would they want a chance to win you?" I shook my head at her" I don't know who he is, i never got his name and i have no idea why a vampire would want to try and win me. " that was an honest answer since i really didn't know why. It was a strange request but at the time i didn't know what he meant and wanted to save the girl so i agreed. 

After a few more minutes of talking about the vampires, i yawned loudly. Gezara giggled as she slipped out of my bed "Well ill let you get to sleep since you only slept a few hours earlier and spent the remainder of the day off with the twins." She winked at the last part and patted my side. I slapped at her hand and laughed "We only went hunting you p*****t and for your information yes i am terribly exhausted." Flopping back on the bed, she laughed as she nodded and left the room. 

Hearing the door click behind her i pulled the blankets up to my chest and snuggled with the extra pillow on the bed. My Max t shirt was beginning to loose its scent and it troubled me, i missed him so much. I rolled over after tossing and turning for at least an hour and dialed Max's number. 

"Hey doll" i smiled hearing his sleep filled voice. " Maxie,where have you been? i miss you. I'm wearing your shirt, your scent is almost gone. " He chuckled gruffly as i heard shuffling. "Oh, doll don't worry you'll be here soon enough and you can have all the shirts you want, thinking about you in my shirt gets me all hot and bothered. My scent is great but i'd rather it be me on you. "

I felt all jittery when he talked to me like that. I swear its a shame he is not my mate.I needed to change course before i became a mess" Max your such a perv, by the way happy early birthday. I wished i was home to be at your party, i know it will suck without me." I giggled at my own joke when he scoffed at me. 

"Look here miss high and mighty, just because you took down a beta and insulted a kingdom along with, inspired women everywhere doesn't mean your all that. Well actually you are pretty bad-ass. You are a pinch of soul with a whole lot of sass. A sprinkle of naughty and just enough class. The strength of a true warrior and a go-to-hell glare. A future that isn't perfect because life isn't fair, a sailors mouth a with a heart full of love and that's what my bad-ass doll is made of." 

His words had me blushing and if i was with him i'm sure i would be putty in his hands. How did this guy do this to me by just talking. "Oh Max, your so cheesy, i swear you are my mate and i will do anything to make you my king. Not just of my heart but the world too, you are so sweet, caring and strong." 

I could hear the smile in his voice "Doll you are already my princess and soon my queen, i couldn't be more proud to hear you say that. I love you Sarah." I smiled at that too. Gosh this guy and his charm. "Well that's enough before i run home to you, goodnight Max I Love you too."

He growled playfully "No i would run to you, i don't need my doll to be flushed unless i caused it with pleasure. Goodnight doll."  He murmured into the phone, I laughed again as he hung up. I rolled over again snuggling my pillow, closing my eyes i tried to dream of Max. I wonder what it would be like to have him as my mate and what kind of king he would be.
