Chapter 14-Dreams and Reality

When did i fall asleep, Its another dream i thought to myself. running through the forest again, over the log through the twin pines under the rock ledge. My once white paws are covered brown and the fur is mated and in knots, i dont know how long i have been running but the hard breathing is a sign it has been a while. slowing to a walk i continue on my path, searching the trees for anything familiar. How in the world have i been running so long i forgot where i was going, this cant be a dream. Passing under the rocks to the edge of a cliff i sat down to overlook the landscape.  

My ears tweaked at the sound of sniffling, a squeak and then shuffling. i turned to see a girl in a white gown sitting on the rocks, her dress torn and dirtied her feet bare. i studied her features realizing this girl is the girl i seen in my reoccurring dreams after hitting my head. Her dark brown hair was matted much like my fur as i inched closer to her she looked up at me and scooted back closer to the ledge, holding her hands up she pointed at the ledge. 

" ill jump, ill do it, don't come any closer", did they send you to fetch me?" 

I c****d my head at her, to fetch her? she asked me, like i was a dog. realizing i was still in wolf form i shifted to my human form. She gasped holding her hands over her mouth, "your, your your human, and a wolf?"

 " yes my names Sarah, i am a Lycan princess to be exact. Who are you running from?" i asked in the softest voice i could muster. sitting down on the rocks so i wouldn't appear as intimidating, i crossed my feet and leaned back looking at the sky i covered my bare breasts with my hair. i could feel her eyes wondering my body as she tried to form words. 

Her scream had me jerking my eyes toward her. the smell of oysters and mold filled my nose. 'VAMPIRES' Sadie growled. A man in leather pants and no shirt held the poor girl by her throat as she dangled in the air.  i growled and shifted into a crouching position ready to shift and save her when"Let the girl down Jadiar" another man appeared beside him. He had a more modest touch with dark wash jeans and a black t shirt with boots. His dark hair and eyes had me finding something about him familiar, but the only vampires i had ever met were killed immediately.

 " What is a wolf, a royal one at that doing trespassing onto Arcadianas"? Arcadianas is the land that the vampires claimed ages ago and retain sole ownership to.

 "i wasn't aware i had traveled so far" i admitted smiling politely even though i wanted to tear them to pieces. "well, i suppose i could overlook this one time,for a price, i mean i wouldn't want a war to start over this accident" he snidely commented. 

Jadair chuckled darkly holding the girls arm now. " what do you want?" i questioned allowing my hair to slide past my breast exposing my n****e. " oh, not that yet my queen, although i would love to ravage your body and tease your flesh. i could take you to the height of pleasure, but sadly i must restrain myself for now a body like yours needs days of worship." 

'KEEP TALKING DRACULA, I JUST MIGHT GIVE YOU A TASTE'Sadie growled lowly in my mind not happy with me for my offer or confused by it.

 I smiled politely covering myself with my hair once gain " then what is it you want from me?" i questioned "i only require that you allow a member of the Valdevire Empire to participate in the upcoming ceremonies" my eyebrows drew in confusion as i stared at the vampire spouting his demand. it seemed simple enough although i haven't the slightest clue what he was talking about.

 " ill agree on one condition" his eyebrows rose to his dark hairline as his hands went to his chin in thought " and that is" he gestured to the sky. " i want the girl as well" i replied still sitting on the rocks and motioned to the girl Jadair was holding tightly while she sobbed quietly. " hmm...very well" he motioned for Jadair to let her go. 

His shocked expression mirrored my own then he stammered " but but why my lord?, what is this ceremony so important that you would sacrifice one of our chamber maids to this dog"? i growled at his response and to my surprise the dark hair vampire had already responded to his remark by thrusting him to the ground in a loud cracking was heard. 

" That is not your concern soldier" he spat angrily at Jadair. i was even more shocked when he slit his throat with his razor like nails, causing blood to spray against the rocks then threw him over the cliff. The poor girl screamed and slouched down in tears and heart-wrenching cries of fear. My senses kicked in having me licking my lips at the sight and smell. 

'Sadie what the hell is going on, why am i starting to get into predator mode at this?' my question was ignored as i watched Sadie lick her lips in response. straightening up the dark vampire picked up the girl wiping her tears he whispered in her ear and she immediately stopped crying. when her crying stopped so did my predator mode, he gently pushed her to me and she scurried into my arms like i was her mother. shushing her i patted her hair as i stared at the dark vampire amazed.

 " how did you do that?" i asked him. he only chuckled in response. " humans are but toys, we have many abilities one of them to manipulate there senses. "who are you?" i asked him "ah i was wondering when you would ask me this." Have we met somewhere before? i feel like i know you" i questioned again. He only smiled in return before taking a few steps toward me. i rose to my feet with the young girl tucked under my arm, he reached for my hand which i gladly gave and he kissed it " until we meet again my queen" then he disappeared in a flash. Leaving a lingering scent of not mold and oysters but a rose and lavender smell i couldn't figure out.

Once i was sure he was gone " im going to shift back into my wolf and get us out of here" i told the girl as i stroked the hair from her face. "once i do i cannot speak like this to you, okay?" she nodded "okay, i want you to get on my back and hang on tight" she nodded again as i let her go and shifted. 

She immediately climbed on my back as i lowered myself to the ground to allow her to get on. " thank you" i heard her whisper into my fur as i took off toward home. there was no way i wanted to stay here any longer seeing that i was freaked out by the weird attraction i had to him. My parents would kill me if they knew where i was, gliding though the trees and bushes i was careful not to spook the girl or let her fall off, i slowed just a  little for her to be comfortable .

It wasn't long until i felt her light snores against my back, her breathing tickling my fur. i laughed softly in my head thinking how tired this poor girl had to be to fall asleep on a wolf she just watched turn from a woman and a gruesome death as well. seeing the lights of the pack house in the distance i slowed down to a walk, i kept trying to think what i was going to say to the pack. i knew they would be able to smell the vampires on both of us, that kind of stench doesn't go away without a serious scrubbing. the thought of her being a chamber maid they called her had my skin crawling and my gag reflex throbbing. 

This poor girl, the things shes probably been though and endured, i wished i could take those horrid thoughts away from her. i was so lost in thought i didn't realize the pack link buzzing until i was met with a burning sensation in my head. my father was forcing a mind link, that s**t was excruciating. i allowed him in and the overload of questions had me wincing at the flood. "where are you, are you okay, do you need help, no one has seen you since your lunch" growling i finally answered:

 " Dad im okay can you meet me at the back door with a set of clothes and a warm blanket ill explain when i get there" shutting him  off i picked up speed startling my sleeping passenger as she wiggled to stay on her grip tightened on my fur.

At the door my dad was waiting just as i ask but my mom, Millie, Max, Mara, Bruce and Max's dad Marcus was waiting for me too. i cringed knowing the tongue lashing i was about to get, there faces changed from anger to worry as soon as they seen the young girl i was holding. immediately my mom ran towards us with the others in tow meeting us halfway to the house there growling had the poor girl crying again and shaking in fear, im sure they could smell the vampires from us.

I stopped and lowered myself to allow the girl to slide off, she hid behind my form as the others caught up. i growled at them as if i was protecting my pup, i mind linked my mom "please throw me the clothes and blanket". mom did as is asked i shifted under the blanket pulling on my clothes i draped the blanket around the girl.

 " Mom, dad, betas, warrior " i spoke to the girl as i pointed out the others. she nestled further against me as i stoked her hair and whispered reassuring words "they will not harm you, they are my family, we will protect you now". she nodded a response but didn't move from me or even look up to the others. 

"everyone, i saved her from vampires,she will be sleeping in my room tonight, i will talk with you all in the morning". i pushed by them heading inside with the girls scurrying to keep up with me, my parents throwing words and questions at me and the others stood motionless. i ignored them and pulled the girl into my arms and climbed the steps to my room, once inside i kicked the door closed and moved straight to the bathroom sitting her on the sink i turned the shower to hot. 

" we both need to shower, we can together or separate, that i will leave up to you. i have to get this smell off me and you need to warm up, your almost chilled to the bone." motioning to the shower  she pointed to the tub.

 " may...mmay i have a bath please" her small voice had me almost cry at how timid she was. " sure you can" i moved to turn off the shower on to the bath. i turned the knob to warm and sprinkled a lavender and eucalyptus pellets into the water, once it was mixed " come its warm now" i left the bathroom to give her some privacy as i slipped toward the closet to get us some clothes. 

I grabbed 2 t shirts and panties with fleece pants i knew i was to hot for them but for her they would be perfect. she was much smaller than me so i would need to roll the pants for her. stepping back into the bathroom she was submerged in the water up to her nose. i smiled sweetly at her and set the clothes on the counter along with 2 towels.

 " is it okay if i join you?" she nodded her head in response so i stripped my clothes and climbed in next to her i washed my body as fast as i could feeling my senses getting heightened from the nakedness and proximity of our bodies. "okay im clean, you may stay as long as you like in here ive gotten your clothes on the counter and a towel. i will be through that door and you can have the bed i will take the bay window.

 "th...thank you for saving me".  i nodded " no problem, see you soon". i dried off and slipped on the clothing headed to the bedroom and climbed into my bay window seat with the small blanket i kept there.  staring out into the frozen lake i turned my head to look at her as she padded out of the bathroom and stopped by the bed " i..i am to sleep in this bed?" she ask as if it was not normal to have a bed. 

"yes for now i will share my room with you, until i can get you your own room". she nodded and slipped under the covers, i listened to her breathing slow until i fell asleep soon after.
