Chapter Three: I Know Your Secret

904 Words
When I arrived home that evening, I walked into my luxurious living room and found a tall, light-skinned beautiful lady, with dark wavy hair that cascaded down her shoulders, gracefully seated on my couch. I quickly recognized her as the woman from earlier today I found with Alexander on his bed. She looked up as I entered, her expression a mix of confidence and anger. “Ah, you must be Maddison, I’m I right? The woman Alexander wants to get married to” She asked, her tone filled with humor. “That’s correct! And I suppose you must be Lisa Parks, his Mistress.” “I guess there’ll be no need for a proper introduction then since we’ve already met.” “So without wasting much of my time. Tell me…why are you here? And what business do I have with you?” “I’m here to talk to you about Alexander.” I raised an eyebrow, intrigued yet cautious. “What about him?” “Well I learnt you two were getting married tomorrow and I’m here with an offer for you. I need you to name your price. How much would make you change your mind about the wedding? I’m ready to give it to you. I’d give you anything to make you stay away from Alexander. Just name it.” Lisa said, her voice laced with a chillingly calm authority. I couldn’t help but chuckle at the sound of what she said.” “What’s funny?” She asked. “You of course. You must think low of me. Look around you, do I look poor? Does it look like I need your petty cash for anything? Look pretty, you can’t just walk into my home and tell me what to do and what not to do and you most definitely can’t call the shots in my life and not in this situation. “You see, I’ve been with Alexander for years now, and I’m not gonna let some newcomer come in and steal him away from me. I’ve built a life with him, and I’m not letting that go easily. So back off now if you still value your life.” “Are you threatening me? In my own home? What a nerve you’ve got there lady” I said in utter shock. “Take that as a warning.” She retorted. I scoffed. “ You’re making this sound like some sort of soap opera. Look. I’m not interested in stealing anyone and definitely not Mr Quinn. Honestly, I hardly even know him. Our Marriage, everything? It’s nothing more than a business deal. And I most certainly don’t have any atom of feelings for him.” “Oh don’t play coy with me, Maddison. I know what you’re doing and trust me you don’t want to go down this lane with me.” Lisa said, her eyes hardening. “You’re trying to get your claws into him, and I’m not going to let you. If you don’t back off now, I’ll make sure your life becomes a living hell. You won’t be able to breathe without my permission.” I stared at Lisa, my anger rising. “You’re delusional. You’re with a man who’s after your body and of course your p***y and nothing more. He doesn’t even love you.” “Shut up! Just shut up! You know nothing about me or Alexander.” Lisa said in an angry tone. “Oh yeah, I may not know much about you two but I sure know one thing, and that is the fact that you’re just his side chick and his mistress that he calls to satisfy his lustful needs and that’s all you’ll ever be to him. Get that into your thick skull. I don’t even care about Alexander, let alone what you think of me. You’re wasting your time.” “You think I’m bluffing, don’t you? You’ll regret crossing me.” Lisa uttered, standing up, her face a mask of fury. “You’ll regret this, Maddison. You’ll regret this very much.” With a final, withering glance, she turned and walked out of the room, leaving me standing alone in the living room, a wave of unease washing over me. I paced back and forth in the living room wondering what I had gotten myself into. First, it was sacrificing my freedom and now it’s my life on the line. Could my life get any worse? Feeling overwhelmed I pulled out my phone and quickly typed a message to my friend, Linda. I needed someone to confide in, someone who could help me navigate this mess. “Hey, Linda! Can we meet up at our favorite restaurant? I really need to talk. Things with Alexander are getting complicated, and I could use your advice on how to handle everything, especially with the wedding coming up. Let me know when you’re free!” After hitting send, I took a deep breath, trying to calm my racing thoughts. The tension from my encounter with Lisa still lingered and I couldn’t shake the feeling of being trapped in a situation that was spiraling out of control. As I waited for a response from Linda, My phone buzzed with a message from an unknown number. Out of curiosity I picked it up and opened the message. It read, “ I know your secret, and soon he’d find out, including everyone.”
