Mon. 22 - Sun. 28 Feb.Lieut. Hendy gathered the Platoon on Friday to tell we are now on notice and must be ready to move at a moment’s notice. Talk is we will take the fight right to the Turks at Constantinople at the centre of the Ottoman Empire. Leave at the weekend was cancelled for any who had it and we all in our tents packed and repacked our kit. The Allied navies are by all account pouring munitions onto the fortifications along the Dardanelles so I imagine we will be pressing into the strait that leads to the Ottoman capital.
The training during the week was solid again. Monday started with full day Platoon and Batt. training about two miles out into the desert. We returned to camp at about 5pm only to be sent on an 11mile route march. We got back to camp at about 10pm and all cli
