Episode 27-Charging Barb

1212 Words
I woke up with a throbbing headache and I had to groan a couple of times to verify that I was alive, I didn’t expect to be actually and it kinda shocked me that I survived, I fluttered my eyes open and I found myself with my back rested against the wall of the ship and my legs were all spread out on the floor looking helpless and dejected, my body aches as I tried to stand making me groan a little, I started to look around and my eyes fell on Barb whose position was still the same as I had left her. She looked like she hadn’t moved an inch although she was in a temporary shut down due to power loss. I struggled to get the door to open and even cut myself in the process but was very thankful when I used my powers to blast the door off allowing fresh air that stings my nose a little to rush down my lungs, my lungs seems to be on fire in the first couple of inhales but it appears my lungs got used to it. I moved back into the ship and draw Barb out into the snow that seems to have covered the entire area, we probably arrived in winter. I looked around and realise we were in the middle of nowhere the only thing I could make out were trees whose roots seems to be completely buried by the snow that laid at their feet, I was confused and dizzy for a second as I looked around but the fact that I needed to attend to the cold that was now affecting me got me more. I entered into the ship and rein sack the place scavenging any useful materials I could make use of, thankfully the bag Barb kept most of the stuff we need, looked similar to a duffel bag, just made from a soldier’s camo. I collected all the food I hadn’t been eating, water, medical supplies that I found in a medical chest, few defence tools, and warm clothes before exiting the ship. I was drawing Barb towards a tree to have her backrest on it so I could think when the ship started to activate the invisible shield which Barb had done earlier, so I guess the system was back online, I just wish Barb wake up soon because there was no way I was going to be drawing her around the city, I don’t even know how I will be able to do that, I sighed heavily and watched the ship started to repair itself, really cool but I wish it’ll repair Barb instead, it should be able to. I started to search Barb’s body looking for any way she charged her body so I can also get her back online but I didn’t quite find it until I open up her vest and saw a large input area in the middle of her back. I started to walk back towards the ship hoping there was any plug that could enter into that input area but I found none until I moved to the main pilot seat to see a pool of wires which had been drawn out from the main system and had an attachment at the head so I guess Barb had charged herself wiring electricity from the ship, I just have to pull her back into the ship then, that won’t really be an easy task for me because pulling her down from the ship proved difficult and I started to wonder how stressful pulling her up will be. The ship had a slide to go down, I would have preferred steps though, but it appears Ghafils had more comprehensive stability than humans. Immediately I open the door, the slide projected itself down and I immediately moved to where Barb was, I heaved a three loud sigh before grabbing her by the hand and vest drawing her into the pile of snow which wasn’t making things any easier, I kept grunting and grunting as I draw her closer to the ship, goddamnit…she was freaking heavy. I grunted loudly and fall into the snow when her clothes tore. I cursed under my breath and get on my feet, then slowly move back to her and grab her two hands using them to draw her up this time, it took several attempts crossing back into the ship with the slide since I kept falling and falling, and when I finally did, I heaved a heavy sigh of relief and immediately drop my hands to my hip wanting to take a quick rest before drawing her to the pilot seat. I took that moment to study Barb’s frame, she was smaller than me in my human form, but Hero did a good job positioning every part of her body, it was duly positioned, none of her hands were longer than the other, but one thing was, the hair on her head looks dead, it was ash blonde and it looks like a wig that needs terrible oiling. After a few moments of just staring down at her, I decided to grab her arm and draw her to the pilot seat to have her get charged, that wasn’t really harder than getting her from the tree back to the ship. Barb seems to have designed the plug to fit perfectly into her charge socket. The moment I inserted it, she spoke but her eyes were still closed. “Battery down, the system will take a while to reboot” It was like speaking through the intercom because her lips weren’t moving. I moved to sit behind the wall watching her get charged, then I was hungry…I decided to eat one of the packaged food in the duffel, after which I looked down at my pale white skin, It hadn’t occurred to me what I had done, questions started to pile in my head? Were my parents still alive? Will I manage to convince them it was me? Will they be disappointed I’m back or be happy, while welcoming all these thoughts, my body was already changing, slowly changing until I looked like my old self, my ability to imitate I guess. I signed and go through the stuff, thankfully I found camo pants and a grey top to put on, I cleaned my dirty skin and brushed my hair with my hands before pulling them up into a ponytail that had few strands loose. I sighed heavy and glanced at my reflection in the little bathroom mirror, though I looked so much like the Claire I was…the redhead with eyes similar to Amber but now…my eye colour was a distinct type of grey, kinda silver and it had a glowing effect in them. “Are you sure? What could have landed so heavily?- “I’m serious we saw it falling from the sky” Two different voices conversed from nearby and I tensed. They will find us…I panicked! -------------------
