Episode 25-Escaping Zullion

1738 Words
I had been stuck in my room for the past five hours since I found out about the unspoken truth, I knew that moment, things would never be the same for us again. “Barb” I called softly after I was tired of staring out into space and nothingness thinking of what next I should do. “Yes, Claire- “I want you to show me where your loyalty lays” I spoke softly while pinning her down with my intense gaze. “How do you want me to do that Claire?” Barb asked and I breathed softly. “Get me off this planet” Barb looked a little taken aback by my request and just stared at me in confusion. “Without Hero learning about it,” I added and she narrowed her face at me. “Why are you staring at me like that?” I questioned her after few minutes of staring blankly at me. “I’m calculating our probabilities of getting out without getting caught and also connecting to the surveillance camera around and blocking it off just in case the king is watching you right now” I suddenly felt a smile find its way to my lips especially when Barb immediately responded to my request. “Are you sure Hero can’t track you Barb?” I questioned and she gave me an assuring look. “Rest assured that I turned my tracker off” Barb assured me further as I put on the warmest clothes I could find to avoid the chilly air of the night because just like earth, it gets chilly on Zullion at night too, then we slowly took to the corridor…I had a feeling in my gut that I was gonna regret my actions but my longing to hurt Hero surpassed that, and I figured the only way to do that is to get as far away as possible and I hope my effort really pays off. “Barb, where are we headed?” I asked in a whisper as Barb lead me down into a secret dark place that was starting to creep me out. “This is the palace waste system control unit and it leads directly to the outskirts of the city, that way we can get to the space control centre in time and still a single vessel where we can use it to successfully leave Zullion but where will you be headed?” Barb questioned and I thought for a moment if I was really doing what I thought I was doing. “Earth, home” The word sounded so alien to me and I could guess while. “I think you might need one of the stones to survive out there Claire, you are a Ghafil, and without your powers, you will be defenceless but those power can only be harnessed a green meteorite stone only the Ghafils possess” I don’t think I understand a word Barb was saying so I pretended to be thinking about it but she saw through me. “What I mean it? This place is full of heavy Green stones which help Ghafils to be able to use the powers locked in their genetic code and once you leave this planet you will not be able to use your powers, even your ability to appear as a normal human will be ceased, so does going to the outer space were always taking to the health facility downtown to inject the liquid of the molten stone into their system, that way they would be able to harness their powers, but if you will rather prefer not to use your powers as you leave Zullion, I think it won’t be necessary- “No no, I want to be able to appear as a normal human, so…how do you think I can get to the health facility?” I asked and Barb gave me a smile. “I know just the way, it will be closed by now but I can help you with the procedures” Barb assured and started to walk ahead, I was getting tired as we just kept walking, into the streets…the trees, the shrubs…I felt really tired and I wish that once I was in my normal body because that body had walked almost throughout his lifetime. Barb turned and point a projected blue light to my face. “Your biometrics reading is not impressing, Claire…I think you’re very tired” like it wasn’t obvious. “I’m not a machine Barb, of course, I’m tired” I breathed roughly and Barb moved over to me and lifted me with ease. “You should have just said so” She muttered with a smile and started to walk ahead like I weighed nothing in her hands, of course, I weighed nothing; she’s a machine, I concluded mentally as she kept walking even faster than she had been walking before, so that means she had been slowing down for me, how fun. I thought relaxing into her stiff hands as she kept walking, she made me so comfortable that I was dozing off in her arms when we arrived at the centre which was so tall that it made me dizzy or maybe I just wasn’t awake probably yet when Barb placed me carefully on the floor and break into the facility to open the door for me. We successfully got in and I felt relieved that there weren’t many guards guarding the ground floor. Barb started to lead me through series of hallways and elevators making sure to distract or avert any guard that encounters on our way. We tried not to draw any attention to ourselves as we walked down the hallways and elevator and with Barb's ability to connect to each camera at different levels we were able to dodge every guard till we arrived at the level where the injection usually take place. “Stay here” Barb instructed as she moved to the inner room of the room we were already in. I started to study my surroundings and for a while, the place was like a typical human hospital, there was a bed in the middle of the room and some overhead lamps similar to those used in surgery, there was a shelf full of vials and potions and another long cabinets which I assume have equipment in them, there were heavy machines around and they all looked like they serve a similar purpose, I was running my hand around a particular one when Barb came back with a test tube rack, in each test-tube was a glowing green substance which I guess was the liquid stone Barb was talking about. “After going through the procedures manual I realised you have to go through physical testing to know if you had any disease or you are pregnant as it is too risky to carry out the procedures if you have any of these procedures” Barb instructed and I frowned. “Barb, I’m perfectly fine, just go ahead with it, I’m not pregnant, and neither am I sick so let’s proceed” I urged wanting to hear what I’ll do next. “The procedures can be very painful and would feel like melted iron is being passed into your veins- “I’m beginning to think you’re trying to scare me from doing this” I laughed and Barb gave me an indecisive expression. “I just want you to understand what you will be going through” She replied frankly and I shrugged. “Please lie down here when you’re ready” Almost immediately I jumped onto what looks like an examining table but was heavier and higher and looked like equipment on its own. I watched Barb started to turn on series on computers and also switching the overhead lamps on, she also connected series of wires before extracting the liquid stone into a spherical bulb which she later input into eight holes at each side of the bed which I must confess didn’t know was there. It engulfed half the cylindrical bulb and I waited patiently for the next action, then Barb suddenly flipped a switch at the side of the bed I was in making every part of me got imbedded by needles that emerged from nowhere. Barb pressed on another button and I watched the bulb suddenly getting drained and I knew that moment it was being passed into my system. At first, everything was going when I mean I didn’t feel much pain except the sting from the needles that had pierced me the very first time but then I started to feel the worst pain of my life, it was different from dying two different times, it was heart wreaking and I going to break free if Barb didn’t have me on restraint, didn’t know how she managed to strap me down to the bed but I was grateful she did or I was gonna kill her myself, I felt an immeasurable amount of rage and everything started to spark and blow off as my power intensify. Barb didn’t mention I was going to feel like dying…and I had no idea either. When the goddamn machine broke down from the impact of the energy surge from me, I weakened unable to lift a single finger but I caught a glimpse of the glowing of my veins that was made obvious by the stone in my system, something baffles me more though, it was the fact that an immense amount of glow was around my stomach and it was glowing so brightly that I could see the shape under the dress I had on, I started to feel pain from my belly, the pain that had me hitting my head angrily against the bed then I was too weak to scream anymore I manage to mutter to Barb who had a blank and concerned look on her face at the same time. “Take me home,” I told her before passing out. --------------
