Miles I stared at my phone, my jaw clenched so tight I thought my teeth might shatter. The call had ended, but the echo of her laughter lingered in my ears, taunting me. She hadn’t meant to answer. I knew that much. But she did, and I’d heard every word. “I think it’s time for you to see my bedroom.” My grip tightened around the glass in my hand, the whiskey sloshing dangerously close to the rim. I drained it in one harsh gulp, the burn doing nothing to dull the ache in my chest. I poured another, my movements jerky, my vision tinged with red. She was supposed to be studying.
