4.Judnich’s was located at the far eastern edge of the old SoMa industrial district, a real workingman’s saloon. Customers included butchers from a nearby wholesale meat packing plant, workers from the big can manufacturing plant across the street, machinists, forklift drivers, laborers from the greater warehouse area, and a few cops and firemen. The bar had originally been owned through the 1950s by Walter Judnich, a pitcher for the old Pacific Coast Triple-A Club, the San Francisco Seals.
