Firefighter Dies in Warehouse BlazeA young fireman fighting a warehouse fire in China Basin was killed within blocks of the soon-to-open Pac Bell Park, home of the San Francisco Giants. The firefighter’s name is being withheld until next of kin are notified. The fire started shortly after 8 a.m. this morning. Engine Company 1 was the first responder. Firefighters were advised by spectators that there was someone trapped in the warehouse. Observing department policy of two-in/two-out, two firefighters, wearing breathing apparatus, entered the old warehouse to search.
