My hurried footsteps echoed across the cold floor of the white hallway saturated with the smell of alcohol. Fluorescent lights flickered above my head. My destination was the last door at the end of it.
The autopsy room.
I entered the room without ceremony, pushing the door open. I found Nadia sitting behind her desk, headphones over her head, a book titled Mysferum in her hands. She was far too absorbed in her reading and the music blasting in her ears to notice me. So I had to lightly tap my knuckles on her desk for her to realize I was standing right in front of her.
That was when she looked up from her book and lifted her head toward me. Her greenish-brown eyes widened when she saw me.
